Re: Oxford
Oh no!
Not too surprised though. We have championed mediocrity haven’t we?
For me it all about finances, we do not have the financial muscle these days, despite having healthy average home crowds.
Only positive to take is the relegation of The team who play in gold shirts down the road.
Good luck to Elliot B. Away from the Darts.
Shake up needed and no more old boys club thing, it didn't work.

Hi 180, I always welcomed your stats as well as your posts. Don't give up just yet as there will be even less quality on here. I genuinely miss the likes of The Duke, Grassbank & Mad Mod's of this world. You have also mentioned Mrs Gaz as well, sadly, another one who has disappeared.180 wrote:The forum used to be great. We had "Mrs Gaz" at home relaying the action from "Mr Gaz" at the ground (before social media took hold). People used to get on, on here, plenty of posts, plenty of people online & it was great. Then as things progressed, you would get the odd whinger, then it would be people having a go at each other & not in a friendly way. This resulted in people posting less.Jonty wrote:I would not take it personally UpTheDarts, you are only expressing an opinion. I get fed fed up with a particular poster who keep banging on about a certain player all the time and is generally unbalanced with his views but this is all part or the parcel of this forum.
With that, I have to thank the excellent work that Mr Gary Clark puts in place with this forum and yes Pete Samson, you did warn us beforehand about Tshimanga.
I posted some stats this season to someone's question, only to be called an anorak by someone else. No, not an anorak, just run a website for the past 13 years with stats on, apologies for that. Maybe I should stop it so you'll feel better?

I'm not sure what evidence this statement is based off. I have praised the team (including just last week against Billericay) however I only joined the forum at the start of this season and overall this season has been a massive failure where we have siginificantly underachieved so I'm not sure how I'm meant to commend the team when there's been very little to praise.BANANA BANANA wrote:Other posters come up with constructive criticism, you only post negative post. When we had a few reasonable run not a word from you.UpTheDarts wrote:So everyone here agrees with what I've been saying for months, yet unfortunately a certain member of this forum only calls me out for "being negative" when I just want the best for this club
Even in some of the wins I've witnessed we have looked poor and been lucky to get the result.
Re: Oxford
Hi Gregg, I agree with most of the above and to a certain extent on finances but I we still think we had a very big budget for this level. For instance, we signed a player for £800 a week only to let him go out on load for the remainder of the season because he was not good enough for this level. I guess that only Woking, Torquay, Billericary, Wealdstone and Chelmsford would have started with a larger budget. Then there is all the loan players, some of which were almost on 1k per week from what I have heard. Player recruitment has been the biggest factor with our poor season and for this reason I would like to see an experienced manager next season. The irony about Wealdstone stealing that final playoff place is that their manager "Bobby Wilkinson" was turned down for the job in the summer.El Kebabus of Arabia wrote:Oh no!

Agree, time for a change needed.
Re: Oxford
Both managers would have expected play off places I am sure. I expect they are as disappointed as we are.
I would be surprised if the financial figures mentioned above are correct. £800 to 1k per week to play part time Football.

Re: Oxford
Things would be so much simpler if we had 11 Lee Noble's.
Re: Oxford
Well, you are gonna be in for a shock then Harry, this was a topic of conversation over the past few games in the bar. This is one of the reasons why there was such a big rift in the dressing room and we could not offload the unnamed player as nobody else was prepared to offer him as good a deal. You can't blame him for not wanting to move on if he was on such big bucks. At least now he will be off the books.

We have signed and then off loaded so many players I haven't got a clue which one you are referring to.Jonty wrote:Well, you are gonna be in for a shock then Harry, this was a topic of conversation over the past few games in the bar.
