Got my ticket to the Darts !
Got my ticket to the Darts !
I am a bit of a collector of football memorabilia and was made up when a small envelope arrived today (a gift from the missus) containing a ticket from the 1974 Wembley Trophy Final. I had the programme but what a great piece of Darts history. Unfortunately I was too young to go to the game, my family went and hopefully I will get an opportunity to do it in my lifetime. I bet a lot of you have some fantastic memories from that day (albeit we lost). Was there any recording of the game back in the day? If so has it never been converted onto a digital format ? Oh and the price on the ticket ...£1 ! Makes you feel old eh ?! Up the Darts.

I've got my rosette somewhere - would you like that to add to your collection?

Mick that would be brilliant, very kind of you. I am a bit of a hoarder in reality and have my own mini DFC collection from the 80's onwards ! Would love to know if anybody has any footage of the game, maybe it was just too long ago ?!

Should have put it out there The Don. Would have gladly given you mine.
Not often you have a good fire going in the Stadium on the day of a cup-final. I seem to remember someone burning their shirt/coat because they were peeved.
Very proud that day. Didn't hear the final whistle because of the noise from our supporters urging the lads on after getting a lifeline goal from Cunningham.

Ozy;You should make copy's on DVD and sell them in the club shop, i am sure they will sell well, and with the proceeds perhaps contribute for a new striker ?

Aha that's modern technology eh?! It's a bit grainy as you say but big cheer when the Darts pulled one backCapricorn25 wrote:Just Google Morcambe v Dartford and a grainy 5 minutes video of the match is on YoutubeThe Don wrote:Mick that would be brilliant, very kind of you. I remember getting on board coach number 41 from outside the old Watling Street ground. As a teenager, it never occurred to me that another 45 years would pass by without Darts ever getting back to Wembley. We have come close quite a few times, Bishops Stortford was the biggest heartbreaker of them all.
Seeing the 1974 Wembley team sheet reminded me what a great side we had. If I'm not mistaken, contrary to the listing on the video, Darts' stalwart John Mitchell didn't play in the final and was understandably very upset by that decision. I seem to recall that a year or so later, when they featured his "player profile" in the program, he answered the question "Most memorable moment" with "None". You can guess what most of his team-mates had put when faced with the same question.
