Darts v Truro (Sat 30th Mar 3pm)
Re: Darts v Truro (Sat 30th Mar 3pm)
Ben will come good again, just looks to be short of confidence at this moment in time. The problem I have is, if he is on the bench and that we have another two wingers also not considered good enough to start, then surely we need to ship one or two out and and bring in someone who is good enough from the off. We still have the same problem as we have had all season in creating chances but at least we actually created some good opportunities yesterday with good ball's into the box but poor finishing on our part cost us two points.

Oh no PL, can't sit through all the adverts AND the highlights of the game yesterday. Mind you, it wouldn't take long.
I think that Tom Murphy would have made a better fist of the game than Ryan, Still.

We have had two pretty bog average performances with very few players coming out of either game with much credit yet Ryno still gets a lot of criticism. Watch the highlights and see who yet again is involved in the chances we created and the goal we scored, take him out of the team and replace him with someone who creates more and i will have no problem. But on the other wing we played four different people yesterday, Bradders, then Nobes, then Roberts and finally Ben all had a go there although i will admit Roberts did help create the goal when out wide. I would have started Ben there as i don't think he's lacking in confidence and is the best we have in that position but tactically yesterday i think we made a right pigs ear of that position which also had an adverse effect on the rest of the midfield.
As for the game itself very similar to last week where we started slowly and never really got going until Darren and Ben came on and the tempo of our play changed although even then there were chances for either team to score. We just seem to be a bit flat at the moment and disappointingly are lacking the intensity and drive we showed in the Woking game. Not sure why but we have played two teams in the bottom half of the league and never pressed either of them or started either game in a positive confident manner.
MOTM for me between Bailey, Nobes and Bradders with Bradders just edging it.

Ozymandias, most probably best you don't watch the highlights, you will have to see 2 lovely crosses by Ryan leading to knockdowns that should have been put away & a clever bit of play to shoot for Elliot to follow up & score. You may have enjoyed the adverts more
More seriously I think you now have to have a you tube account (free) to watch without adverts.

Well said gentleman. Let's face it, without him we ain't got a hope in hell's chance of making the playoffs. To even suggest playing Murphy or Coker front of Ryan is quite embarrassing, they just don't beat their man and get the ball over. Personally, I wish Ryan never returned, at least we might have a better idea of how good our management team really are. Its the old guard that have saved our dynamic duo's backsides.Llamaman wrote:Ozymandias, most probably best you don't watch the highlights, you will have to see 2 lovely crosses by Ryan leading to knockdowns that should have been put away & a clever bit of play to shoot for Elliot to follow up & score. The anti-Ryno brigade have had their say and as usual opinion is divided, but we've been having this conversation for years and I think there's more chance of getting a consensus on Brexit than Ryno.
Regardless of our different ideas about team selection, a few dodgy performances doesn't alter the fact that we have a decent side and could just as easily hit a run of form again in the next few weeks. I was hoping we could grab that all important third spot but after the last few games that looks unlikely now. Nevertheless, I still think it would be a huge surprise if we didn't make the play-offs.
Our club underwent massive changes last summer and we dropped a few clangers with the early signings, but Flanners & Coyley have done well to turn things around and give us a team that has a fighting chance. Before the season started, I doubt any of us would have expected to be in a better position than we are at this point, so I'm happy to accept the fact things aren't perfect whilst recognising they aren't doing too badly either. I believe we'll have a better chance of success if we all stay together and really give the team our backing for the all important run in. We know we're not the best team in the division, but I think we are more than capable of beating anyone on those days when we get it right. Five games to go and 3 wins would probably be enough. We just need to get over that finish line and then find our peak in the play-offs when it really matters.

Jonty, when did I suggest that Tom or Andre get starting rights ahead of Ryan. Maybe I should have said ' when it's not working, change it'. I am not anti-Ryan, although he is not my cup of tea and hasn't been for two seasons.
And personally, yes, I'd wished he'd never returned.

Also, I feel that I am not a part of any 'anti' Brigade of sorts. I pass a comment on Ryan and find I am part of the 'anti Ryno Brigade', such is the fickle comments on here.. Many players have gone down that road in the 50+ years I have been supporting the club. I for one have given my best support to each and every one of them, some, no mtter how poor.
But there comes a time, and I'm not saying that Ryan cannot turn a game in a moment of brilliance. But they are getting fewer and further apart.
He will no doubt get my support all the while he is here.

As the smiley face in my post indicated it was only a throwaway light hearted remark in response to Ozymandias video watching problems. I love watching Ryan, but fully accept how frustrating he can be & take him for what he is. 159 substitute appearances in his overall total of 602, plus all the times he has been substituted back up how his performances can vary wildly. One of the most entertaining & exciting players I have seen playing for the Darts. Just making the most of him while he is still around, along with his 2 super Darts team mates Lee & Elliot. It's still a bit strange not having Danny Harris around. But that is football players cannot go on for ever.Jonty wrote:Well said gentleman.
