Gordon Banks R.I.P.

Post by HantsDart »

So the greatest goalkeeper this country has ever produced has passed away. The football world will be saddened by the news. We have lost another member of the unforgetable team that won the 1966 FIFA World Cup at Wembley.

And everyone who was around in 1970 will remember his incredible save from the Pele header.

The stand out names from the 1966 tournamant must include Moore, Hurst, Beckambeur, Pele, Eusabio - and Gordon Banks.

Thanks for the memories, Gordon.

Pele: "I scored so many goals in my life, but people always ask me about that save."

Pele is legendary, probably the greatest footballer you will have ever seen? and for football fans across the world to ask him the question " how did Gordon save that?" shows the two will be forever linked in football history which is testament to the great Gordon Banks.

God Bless Banksy RIP. :(

Good to hear Alan Mullery on the radio today - he asked Banksy why he didn't catch the ball and got a mouthfull of abuse.
