I think that Deren was left out of the most recent Gibraltar squads because of the simple fact that he wasn't playing for his club. That may well change once he starts playing regularly again.

But now that the World Cup is under way, the qualifying rounds for 2022 won't start for another couple of years. How many friendlies are Gibraltar likely to play before then?

Oh bother! I'd forgotten about the Euros. They fall midway between World Cups, don't they? So the qualifiers for 2020 will start soon. Drat!

Bloody hell! I reckon Gibraltar could qualify. :o . What about the lad we had against Bognor Regis at home. Thought he commanded his box and handled confidently. Didn't he play at Cray Wanderers or some team Local. Carey was his name.

We wouldn't be able to live with Deren then, strutting around.

As well as the above, the dates for the Euro qualifiers span the next two seasons …

21–26 March 2019,
7–8 & 10–11 June 2019,
5–10 September 2019,
10–15 October 2019
14–19 November 2019
(ten matchdays)

and a very remote possibility of play offs.

With Deren back in our first team I see no reason why he won't regain his place for Gibraltar. It's a great honour to have a full international keeper at our club but it's also a right pain that we could potentially be without him for over 1/6 of the season.

The success of any team is having a very good , consistant goalkeeper who is playing ALL season in front of a very good back 4 , Flan/Coyley have shown faith in Deren by giving him the NO1 shirt after he was [ quite rightly] dropped for poor performances [ NOT helped by being way with Gibralter ] which in retrospect did cost us promotion due to the replacements cock ups , hard I know but the truth !!

With this new international match information becoming common knowledge , can we afford to have Deren away as often and just maybe our Managers may just be thinking that Deren would be better swerving the Gibralter games for his long term future at the Darts ???
