Retained List 2018/19 & New Signings
Re: Retained List 2018/19 & New Signings
Alex made a huge difference in his last spell and I was always convinced that if we'd had him a bit longer we would have avoided the drop. Goal-scorers are everything in football and it doesn't matter how good the rest of your team is if you don't have someone who can consistently stick it in the net. I was gutted when Alfie Pavey left but at this point in time, if Alex is fit and firing on all cylinders, he is in my view an even better striker than Alfie. I'm really looking forward to the new campaign and the fact that I have no idea what to expect. Tony Burman is a living legend but things had become a little predictable and the possibility of substitutions that I can't predict at times that I don't expect is, in a small way, quite exciting.

To be honest I'm still more excited at getting Delano than Alex. A lot of if's and but's. I do hope he can bring the form everyone witnessed, but he's too long gone for me.

To be honest I find this latest signing the most intriguing one so far by the new management team.
Alex was outstanding during his loan spell, capable of terrifying some defences at that level with a combination of pace and strength. He has not had a good time since then, because of injuries as well as the other problems mentioned in earlier posts. It will be an interesting challenge for the managers to get him back to his best.

Good point Lincoln - WOW was it really four years ago when Wall last played for us? Things have moved on. Great signing though - I can imagine that he would link up well with PughLincoln exile wrote:To be honest I find this latest signing the most intriguing one so far by the new management team.

So DOA has left because he didn't fancy coming back to training and proving himself. A shame because, when fit, he's a fantastic player and after we nursed him to recovery I feel he owed us another season.

It's a real shame that Debo has decided to leave because if 100% fit then he can cause any defender big problems but it's either a case he doesn't want to fight for his place OR he still isn't fully fit.
I would've hoped that if he was fit then he would do the decent thing and fight for his place because the club has stuck by him got him fit and gave him his chance in his 1st season and he was superb even when carrying his injury.
The club then paid for all his treatment & stuck with him last season even when he hardly played and wasn't fit.
He must've thought he didn't stand a chance against the new signings & Pughie so decided to leave.
Good Luck to him where ever he ends up just a shame to go the way he has.

Where has the info on DOA come from? Twitter?
Shame to hear his Dartford career is over, he provided some good times at the club. Wish him well.

It's on the DFC twitter page on the official web.

I liked Duane and it is a pity that he has gone but realistically even with a decent pre season and contract offer he [ at best] would have been 1 of 4 strikers and would probably have NOT got a great deal of playing time which after his bad injury of last season must be his priority , even IF he drops down a league or so
With his injury we saw little of him last season and the few times we did he was NOT the player of the season before but I have some great memories of him in full flight and he was an exciting player to watch !!!
Best wishes for the future Duane

We have 3 strikers in ,Delano, Pughy and now Wall, if DOA decided to move on it is understandable
Last season was a washout for big Duanne and who knows it be has fully recovered from his injury.
If we did pay for his treatment and he is now fit then it is a disappointment but from a DFC
point of view can we take a chance or on Duanne's fitness?
I wish him well,he was a revelation 2 years ago but I have to question his fitness to play regularly.
We move on!
