Judging by the programme notes the new manager has brought in quite a lot of new players in the last 2-3 months...

Hungerford were the worst team we've played against this season. Both centre backs looked like Bambi on ice (especially the 6). Was hoping KST had posted his marvellous highlights on here as our second was excellent. TBH, I didn't realise one of their players was down when we scored it. The team selection was again wrong in my opinion - Philpot put a real shift in and took his header spectacularly (delivered by the sublime Greenhalgh), but time and again he looked all on his own up front. I can't see what Roberts brings to the table at all. So it looked like we were playing 4-3-1 yesterday as Noble - who had his usual brilliant game - also appeared to be in a one man midfield. My point is that a classic DFC line up would've been 4-0 up with the game over at half time.

It just seems so wrong that a player as good as Bradbrook can be left on the bench all game when we were so obviously lacking a partner for Noble and a bit of command on the pitch. And what of Sheringham? Has he left and not told anyone? It all feels very amateurish and messy.

Still, we ground it out and played alright. Once Coker and Roberts made way for Hayes and Darbyshire the team looked much more together, but I was disappointed that JCAF felt they had to swap the indefatigable Philpot for Oyenuga with 20 minutes to go - it felt like such an arbitrary substitution and then serendipitously one of our players (Darbyshire) went down injured soon after. Thankfully he was up on his toes after a couple of minutes, but again it looked like a madman pulling the strings.

A good start to the Christmas campaign and I promise not to moan if we are nine points better off by 5pm on New Years Day.

Finally, a nice knees-up for Andy Pugh's benefit bash afterwards. Thanks to all for making it a good laugh.

Edit - found highlights on the National South webpage - http://www.thenationalleague.org.uk/mat ... eos/137757

I said after the Slough game, that I felt sorry for Nobes having to run central midfield on his own and
it was the same yesterday. Wynter (a defender) looks lost in midfield, with Elliot again on the bench
and not used, it makes no sense to me. I thought Hungerford were the worst team i have seen this season
but we were not really good enough to kill them off. Anyway pleased with the 3 points.

What a fine decision by the referee to allow play to continue and us to score our second goal when there was a Hungerford player flat out in our penalty area! No wonder the Hungerford management team went mental!

Shame, though, about the injury time goal conceded, returnng our goal different negative again. :(

Really! I never even noticed the guy was down until after the goal and he didn't take long to recover did he. It's all very easy to have a "head injury" when your opponents are on the attack. A load of tosh about nothing if you ask me.

Defensively i thought Hungerford were poor, no leadership and poor organisation allowed us to get free in their box several times but unfortunately we didn't capitalise enough otherwise we would have been more comfortable winners. Ironic then that the number 5 got free and headed their consolation goal.
Most important thing was to get back to wining ways and get the three points so job done.
First half we were ok without really dominating but lost our way a little in the second half until the obvious substitutions were made. Why bring Ryno back to the club (our most creative player by a mile and who is much better than those playing ahead of him) and then leave him on the bench? Makes no sense to me and please don't give me this crap about him being an impact player, if any player is not good enough to start they shouldn't be at the club.
Nobes and Bailey had good games but MOTM between Ben and Jamie so makes the decision to leave Ben out the other week even more ridiculous and i would not have taken Jamie off when he was playing so well but can only think it's because of the amount of games coming up.
Having said that we are in a decent position and we have sorted some of the problems out and be great if we can beat Bus Stop FC.

I have to agree with most of the comments with Roberts doing nothing to help Philpot out up front and Coker just wandering around with what appeared to be no effort or interest in midfield and it was no surprise to see them substituted and not before time.
But why no Bradders starting or coming on and I would have preferred to see Ryno on earlier but where was Charlie again questions a number of fans are asking
That old fear that one goal is never good enough for us came about again today but thankfully we had already secured a second one so had enough to hold on for the win although where our defence was for their goal I don't know as there was no marking of the player that scored.
Ben, Lee and Jamie up for M.O.M. and I gave it to Jamie as he put in such a good shift on his own.

Ah, but I was sitting at the academy end and had a very good view. The guy went down after an aerial challenge (with Vose?), fell awkwardly and was laid out for quite a long time. No head injury (more shoulder?) and no feigning of one in my opinion. Either the referee wasn't aware or he decided it wasn't a head injury either.

Word going around that Charlie had gone to Welling!

Later it seems we had misheard (hopefully), and he had gone to a wedding. Who knows? Nothing surprises us this season with so many comings and goings.

Two very well taken goals and three points against a poor team, and agree with previous comments that the first two substitutions were very much needed and gave us more to cheer in the final 15 minutes.

Perhaps Charlie went to a wedding in Welling. Is this a second career, I've heard of professional mourners at funerals but not professional guests at weddings. He seems to go to a lot, must have lots of friends. :)
