Overall fair result, except for a 15 minute spell in the first half they were the better team. Lots of effort, lots of commitment from our lads tonight but Torquay just had that edge over us.
Would not be surprised if they go on to win the league, very efficient performance from them.
Dartford v Torquay United - Rearranged Fixture
Re: Dartford v Torquay United - Rearranged Fixture
First half we could and should have been 2 or 3 goals in front but due to some some poor finishing, failure to choose the right option at the crucial moment and their No. 17 (skipper) seeming to block everything else we went in at HT 0-0. IMO he played a major factor in securing their win so it was a shame (and needless) that he showed a lack of class by goading the home fans throughout the game without any provocation. Would love him as a player but not as a skipper.
Second half Torquay were in control and we didn't really threaten much and just run out of steam.
As for our guys, Kudos caused them problems but never got his head up once when in a dangerous position and on several occasions chose the wrong option, ironic that in the second half he was annoyed with Jampot who did the same to him. For me Coker is a wide man and should not be asked to play the central striker role, in the second half he ducked every high ball that went anywhere near him allowing Torquay a free header every time. Sponsors MOTM? Not for me but he did OK when playing wide.
We battled well and everyone gave their all with Ronnie, Tom and Alex having a real go but MOTM for me was between Nobes and Mark.O.

Re: Dartford v Torquay United - Rearranged Fixture
The Darts dominated the first half and played some exciting, pacey, very positive football and created lots of chances, but in the end the league table doesn't have a column for missed opportunities. Kudus caused Torquay all sorts of problems and I hate it when strikers are reluctant to shoot so I was initially encouraged that he kept having a go himself, but I can't deny that there were at least a couple of times when a simple pass was clearly the better option. Darbyshire had a decent debut and we really did play quite well at times, but going in for the break at 0-0 you always had the feeling that when Torquay got THEIR chance, they'd be far less wasteful.
There were lots of positives about tonight's game. Torquay are a decent side and for 45 minutes we bested them. But it's a simple game football and whoever sticks the ball in the net most wins the game. We haven't got anyone prolific at doing that.
MOTM: Lee Noble (again).

Yeah the league table doesn't lie and there are only four teams in the division who have scored less than us and three of them are in the bottom 4.
Oh how we could do with someone like ......... no i won't say it

Jamie Coyle said last week that our "chance to goal ratio" was not good enough and the first half tonight seemed to illustrate what he meant, judging by the Twitter updates and Steve Tervet's report.

I agree with Parky
Our attack is weak ,we don't have a regular goalscorer
Lots of huff and puff but The Torquay keeper had nothing to do in the 2nd half.
We will finish about halfway imo with our present strikers.
Sorry but that's how I see it and the goals for column
Does n't lie

On the plus side, at least our "chance to game ratio" has dramatically improved.Lincoln exile wrote:Jamie Coyle said last week that our "chance to goal ratio" was not good enough and the first half tonight seemed to illustrate what he meant, judging by the Twitter updates and Steve Tervet's report.

A good team performance and can't fault the effort from all last night , 12 months ago Pavey would have put a couple away and we may have won that game , however this season as others have said our front men are poor. I would like to say if Sheringham had played last night it may have been different but Tom G dealt with him easily for 90 mins in the cup so our options going forward really are poor.
The best i think we can hope for is to beat the weaker teams in this league and finish mid table. Hopefully next summers recruitment will be better than this years ?
One thing i would like to say once again Lee Noble was MOTM its a shame he is playing some of his best football in his best position in a struggling team.

We were good first half and played some nice stuff, the new kid looked decent on the left wing and Kudus worked hard and showed pace but we can't get the ball in the bloody net. Second half belonged to them and our attack looked more and more lightweight. Oh for a young Jacob Erskine a big forward to lead the line and bully the opposition defence. I suspect we will make the playoffs just about but that's not saying much in this league.
