After over twenty years of administering/updating DFC websites in one form or another, I'm calling it a day. I no longer have the time, or in truth, the same enthusiasm I once had, to keep up the high standard I expect of myself to be able to run the site along with my other matchday roles & DFCSA Secretary so I will be stepping down from the forum.
This isn't a decision I've taken lightly, and it's not something that has just come to mind - it's been a good few years that I have been thinking about it, and the last eighteen months or so have given me a new perspective on things (like so many of us!).
I'm hoping to pass the forum across to someone willing to take on the baton to enable the site to remain up with the responsibility that entails but if there is no-one willing to commit the time & effort to it, I will close the site down when the hosting expires in March 2022.
We have seen many, many highs since Tony Jaglo and I started the old "Freeyellow" pages with the "Heard Down The Welsh" rumour message board in 1998 (I think) - we've had the eBay auction to raise funds when we most needed them at Stonebridge Road, everything to do with the return to the Borough and Princes Park (and a huge amount of forum members at the Council meeting where the final permissions were given the go-ahead to build the stadium), promotions, cup wins and everything in between.
We've also had a good number of lows, on the pitch and off it. We've lost good friends, like DartMac, Little Tony, Roger, John Towersey, and more recently Dave Eden and I am sure there are others who I have missed out for which I apologise.
I've had a great time, on the whole, but after over half of my life involved in this, I feel I need to step back.
If anyone wishes to discuss taking it over, my contact details are gary.clark@gmail.com.

Re: Pure DFC Announcement
No amount of thanks would ever be enough to show our appreciation of your efforts over the many years that the website has been in existence and I just hope that someone with I.T. experience and sense will take up your very generous offer.
May I offer my personal thanks to you Gary

Re: Pure DFC Announcement
Thanks Gary for everything you have done on Pure DFC as without doubt it has been the major communication for Dartford FC over many many years , glad you are carrying on with your other DFC roles and also enjoying your personal life !!!!
Re: Pure DFC Announcement
Very well done for all you’ve contributed and your tireless efforts over the many, many years mate. Most unlikely that anyone will put the same amount of work in for such a long time as you have, but I do hope this forum is curated by someone as it represents my only ‘social media’, so would be a great shame to lose it.
Thanks again, and enjoy the extra time afforded by your retirement. You don’t look a day over 60

Re: Pure DFC Announcement
That's a shame, it was always a source of info for me & TBH I am getting less enthusiasm updating "thedarts.eu".
I've been running that for 15 years. It's been a struggle at times of late.
Then I was gearing up to have an operation last month & wondering how I would update my website, but then it got cancelled by the surgeon when sitting in the hospital in my robe. So that's still on the cards at some point.
Can I ask what MySQL database size this forum is. My host allows 2GB
If you get no takers, then I'll give it a shot just to keep it running.
I did install & configure a phpBB forum back in April, although I never activated it.
Thanks for all your hard work with this over the years.

Thank you so much, Gary. Those of us Darts fans who live at a distance and who only get to see the Darts on rare visits back to Kent have found your websites invaluable for keeping us in touch - many, many thanks!
Re: Pure DFC Announcement
I'd like to add my thanks Gary for all your hard work over the years.
I think in comparison to most other forums this is arguably the best as it is so well run and because of that whilst there are the normal difference of opinions it has remained civil, unlike a lot of others.
I really hope the forum continues and hope 180 can give it a shot, this forum has always been my first point of call and whilst i'm not an IT wizard if i could help in other ways i'd be open to a discussion about it.
