Post by Kebabus »

So our final outing in pre season is on Saturday at SK old club

With injuries will be tough to name the St Albans line up.

Lovely ground is the Dripping Pan.....

Well pre season games have now finished and today was our most disappointing performance.
First half we just didn't get going and made a few uncharacteristic errors, second half we did improve but did not perform at the same level we have as in previous games. Overall though pre season has been very good and we have performed really well so maybe today won't do us any harm and will act as a gentle reminder that we need to maintain those high standards, with the players and management we have i'm confident we will.

As for Lewes, nice friendly club and decent playing surface but it's a mini Dulwich!!
In between them having a beer and a chat they occasionally realised there was also a game going on

We could feel unlucky on both their goals as there were a few who thought the first was offside (couldn't personally be sure as too far away) but i was convinced there was a foul on Noor in the build up to the second. However only a friendly so not disastrous but the real negative on the day for me was the numerous poor challenges they put it, especially their number 6. No question he shouldn't have remained on the pitch and i'm certain we have a few players who have took some nasty knocks today as a result. Luke Allen had to go off after a poor challenge from behind and i noticed a couple of other players limping at the end, fingers crossed they're not too bad.

Looking forward to next week and confident Kingy and our squad of talented players will be back on top form.

Result not that important but fitness is and I believe we have many unfit players in the squad now. Really hoping in the next 6 days we can get the talent out there on the pitch in sufficient numbers as St Albans is surely one of the toughest away games of the season.

Agree there was a bit more enthusiasm for the local brew than the football, but I’d be a major hypocrite for condemning that!
From what I understand, the Lewes team is unrecognisable from last season, owing largely to big payouts generated from the women’s team!?
Anyway, it was one to forget. We scarcely got out of second gear and looked a shadow of the performances against Ipswich, Charlton, Wimbledon, Southend and Sutton. I’d much rather this showing had come before, or in the midst of those games, but it came directly before our first league game and we must get over it.
Just a little concerned if today’s XI is to be King’s first choice XI as there was personnel way out of place as to be ineffectual for large parts of the game and it made for a disparate side compared to those of previous friendly games.
