Fantaseas Water Park

Post by Llamaman »

There is an article about this former attraction located in Bow Arrow Lane on the Kent Online. Didn't last very long, didn't seem to have much chance when reading all about it. I can remember there being a couple of football pitches up there before it was built & another pitch across the road next to Stone House Hospital. Haven't been around there for years, I wonder if the small graveyard for Stone House is still looked after. Many years ago it was well overgrown then had a tidy up. Was it made a selling point as a selling for the new houses? Local to M25 and a bijou cemetery on site.

I read the article and felt very lucky to have experienced Fantaseas. Would have been about 11/12 at the time and having lived in Thanet until 2003, I never realised that it was in Dartford until moving here! The Doom Tube was brilliant, no way my fat gut would squeeze through there now
Was interesting to hear of the injuries that occurred there - my finger got a slice from one of the handrails and bled out a good bit, which for thirty years I dismissed as my own haplessness, but maybe not!

There was also a small version of an assault course over the road where the Bowls building was/is. Is it still there? I haven't been down Cotton Lane for decades. Did the Assault course many times but gave it up because it hurt. :D

I am venturing into Dartford in November to see Henning Wehn at the Orchard. Can someone tell me if by going down East Hill do you still have to go round the ring road or can you turn right and go toward the station? Has it changed any? And where's the best place to park the car for the Orchard other than the roof of the shopping center.
I once went to the bottom of Park Road when on a visit to PP, that's about the nearest I got to the town in the last 23 years. :D

I think the assault course has disappeared along with the little steam railway. The railway went due to continual vandalism not sure about the circuit course. The Bowling Club is still there and going strong I believe. There is now Stone Lodge School where the Stone Lodge Farm was situated.
It is possible to turn right at the bottom of East Hill there are car parking on ground level in front of the theatre. I saw Henning Wehn at The Leicester Square theatre in November 2019, but he didn't make me laugh. Mind you he wasn't performing, he stood by me to stretch his legs during the interval of Count Arthur Strong's 'Is there anybody there?' tour. I do enjoy Henning's humour, may treat myself to a ticket.

Thanks for that Llamaman. Have seen Henning three times down my way now, Wintergardens Margate, The Marlowe Canterbury and The Royal Theatre Margate. The night at the Royal was a blast as was the after show entertainment. A bunch of lads being hunted down by the police. Ended up with one of the lads embedded in the back of a van after losing control of his moped. I actually stepped over him as he lay writhing on the ground.
Can't beat a good night out in Margate. :o
