So the board say they have taken all these actions to protect the integrity of the league. I just don't see it!!
Their integrity was already shot to pieces, starting with their questionnaire putting out the wrong questions to the clubs in the first place with loaded questions.
They seemed to forget that the majority of clubs voted in favour of continuing the season, so those clubs in the North and South divs who were amongst those numbers should have been allowed to continue, with promotion and relegation between the divisions, and those clubs at that level who didn't want to play should have been allowed to do so without penalty. I'm sure that was also a part of the thinking of those clubs wanting to continue.
The next mistake of the league was not to take ownership of the problem. It should not have been left to 18 clubs having to be going it alone in trying to maintain the integrity of the competition because the league should have been leading that discussion in a positive vein with a view to playing out the the season to a conclusion.
Personally, I have no sympathy for Dover, and they are already very fortunate to be remaining in the National League. However, I don't believe any of the clubs in the North or South divisions should have been penalised, either financially, or a points deduction, given that it was the league who said the season was to get under way with the help of the initial grant, and a follow up grant. All the clubs acted in good faith. What a mess!

Dover have come out of this very lightly.
Parmenter (or more importantly his Missus) could cough up £40k no problem!! x

Dead right M1S, but don't get me started on Parmenter again...... too late!
His arrogance knows no bounds. He secured £250k for Dover as their allocation of the original grant, even though (by his own admission) he had reduced their playing budget to probably the lowest in the league. They only played 15 league games, so Dover were subsidised by £16000 of public money per match played.
Then after the democratic vote by NLP clubs to continue the season didn't go his way, he throws his toys out of the pram and refuses to fulfil Dover's fixtures, effectively sticking two fingers up to fellow clubs. He refused to even field youth players, saying in went against the integrity of the league. I don't think he knows the meaning of the word.
Then he has the audacity to complain about a 12 point deduction and a very modest £40k fine and threaten the NL with legal action! Dover don't deserve to maintain their NL membership after they way he has run the club. At best, they ought to be playing in the South East Counties League (or whatever the Kent League is called now) next season.
I do have a little bit of sympathy for Dover fans, but personally, I would have no problem if they went under completely. This is all Parmenter's doing, and perhaps the fans would then really see him for the nasty selfish little man he really is.
