Former P M Gordon Brown would have been dancing in the streets of Kirkcaldy on Saturday evening. A proper supporter of his local club over many years. Raith were 3 up at one time but clung on at the end for a 3 - 2 triumph, perhaps they tired after a long covid enforced break. Rovers host Hearts tomorrow in a re-arranged fixture a win there and in their 2 games in hand would put them on level points with the Jambos. What I like about Raith's ground is the grandstand that starts behind 1 goal then runs along to the halfway line, Apparantly it was meant to continue on the whole length of the pitch but funds ran out. Some of the old grounds have these lovely quirks not to be seen in modern grounds.

Raith back on track with a 3 - 1 home win to Dundee after going behind early on. 'A View from the Terrace' on The BBC Scotland Channel had an item on Rory the Lion, the Rovers mascot in last night's show. The feller inside the suit certainly gives it his all, & it's a lion because there is one on the club badge. The item about Pollok FC ON Today's Football Focus came from the same show. It's good to see a Junior team in Glasgow having such a loyal following, the Old Firm aren't the be all & end all. Anyone watching would certainly understand how much they are missing seeing their team.

I did catch the tail end of that Llamaman about Pollock. Don't think that Raith are going to catch Hearts though.
Never understanding the play off's at the end of the Scottish season, if Raith finish runners up I presume they have to play the team at the bottom of the Premier??

Did you think it would be really so straightforward and simple as that? This is Scottish Football here. In the Chmapionship play-offs, the 4th team in the Championship play the team in 3rd place, who have the second leg at home. The winners of that play the Championship Runners-up who have the home game in 2nd leg. The winners of that play the next to bottom team in the Premiership who play at home in 2nd leg. The winners of that either remain in the Premier League the following season or are promoted to it, the loser is relegated/stays in the Championship. Don't think it could be much simpler. When the system first started the leagues finished at the same time, therefore if the Premiership side ended up relegated they complained it was because they were not match fit after a long break, if the Championship team lost they said it was because they were exhausted from playing too many games in a short space of time, then meeting up with a fit and rested team. It was changed so that the Championship finishes earlier than the Premiership so the matches between the Championship clubs finish at the same time as the last round of Premiership fixtures. The bottom club in the Premiership are automatically relegated, the Championship Champions automatically promoted. The same system operates for Division 1 and 2, whilst the bottom club in Division 2 play 2 legs against the winners of a play-off between the champions of the Highland & Lowland leagues. The Scottish Professional Football League play-offs system surely qualifies as a specialist subject on Mastermind.
