£10m government support package
Re: £10m government support package
Agree that's that season over then...
Re: £10m government support package
What a staggering announcement at this stage, surely if all clubs were aware of this, then the season up to now would have been in doubt, where is all this cash coming from to pay it back?
Shouldn't think there would be loads of clubs able to borrow many thousands of pounds and pay it back?

Re: £10m government support package
Well for starters, the full time clubs who pay silly money to mediocre players (& management) should go part-time, that will save them a right few bob!! It is ridiculous that some clubs are full-time at Nat North/South level !!!
And how much do the clubs receive for streaming their games? No figures are ever released, 2 fans paying to watch the stream is the same as one paying at the turnstile!! It’s not rocket science!!

I thought that it had been said some time ago that this money would be in the forum of loans and was surprised that more concern had not been expressed before.

Have i got this right.......
The government stop the support scheme (offering loans instead).
The clubs will then pack up and put their payers back on furlough.
Then the government end up paying 80% of their wages at least until the end of April.
Surely there's some common ground to resolve this?

If the season ends now it could be argued that the previous funding from the Lottery was also wasted.

Option 3 is looking bleak, guess a lot of sides not looking for promotion will fancy that!

Something stinks. Could it be the case the National League didn't fully understand the terms and conditions of the financial package in the first place? If their implementation of the distribution of money to it's member clubs was anything to go by I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised.
Or has none league football been dealt a devious hand by the government? I wouldn't be surprsed by that either.
Which leads me to wonder how many more U-turn policies are stashed away in the cabinet waiting to be unleashed on already long suffering businesses.
By all means look forward to the post-lockdown party.
But be prepared to pay £10 for a pint.
And if you want a packet of crisps to go with it, that'll be another £3 please.
