Strikers

Post by TonyH »

It is clear that a lack of goals from our strikers has contributed to our inconsistent form so far this season. With the pedigree of strikers we have in the squad can this be sorted or do we need to bring in another new face?

We know Alfie Pavey is on a 6 week loan period and may return to Barnet in January. The future for Chris Dickson is unknown and Charlie’s out on loan scoring goals for Chelmsford. Elliott has looked a shadow of the player he was last season and whilst Jack gives us so much going forward his goals per game ratio is below par for a front line striker. Moussa may score occasionally but doesn’t look the player to give us 10-5 goals this season. Nassim? Looked very useful on Saturday.

It’s a real dilemma to say the least. What do we think guys? We’re certainly missing last seasons McQueen/Romain combination.

Without watching the games live at the grounds its difficult to know why our forwards are struggling to score but Darren McQueen's pace was a big factor in last seasons success. The lack of atmosphere in empty grounds without the Dartford faithful to gee up the players could be a factor I suppose. Hopefully Kingy will find us somebody to put the ball in the net. It is very depressing that until bullshit Boris organises mass vaccinations we won't be back at Princes Park this season. However our team could light a candle in the dark and cheer us up by stuffing the Fleet Boxing day. MERRY XMAS to all at DARTORD F.C. especially the supporters and please God a better 2021.

I think its easy to blame the strikers for lack of goals as the supply line from the midfield and the wing backs has been poor and even Houdini would fail to score , the midfield 3 are very good with the clever passing but ineffective from 20 yards out with defence splitting balls that strikers feed of [ and score goals ] , the wing backs [Bobb and Barrett] get into some great forward positions but there crossing [ into the box] has been woefull and I struggle to think of any assists so far this season
Pavey, Barham ,Dickson, Bayo , Romain and Sheringham ALL have a decent goalscoring history but ONLY cause the chances were made for them !!!!!!!

I agree with you Dave. I don't think SK helped matters by releasing Ming, who would overlap and get to the by-line and put in some decent crosses, he was also better defensively than what we have at present. Sadly, the team we finished last season is better than what we have at present. The wide areas need addressing or I fear that a play-off position could disappear. Still, we have plenty of time for improvement.

I'm pretty certain SK didn't release Ming. I remember what happened and I'll tell you when I see you next mate.

I don't think it's the strikers fault. It's nice to see the football going forward but for me it's the 'one touch too many' that is the problem.

Occasionally like ttb above, there's bullshit about Boris, that's got nought to do with football, or this football club.

I agree Duke! I really can't recall loads of good chances going begging, just a lack of good service to the strikers.

It's really frustrating and I sympathise with Kingy in that with JBA, Jebb and Husin, I really do think we have three of the best ceative midfield players in the league, but they just aren't creating many chances for the front men.

Similarly Marsh-Brown, another good player at this level, has been disappointing this season and isn't beating defenders, crossing and creating chances either, which I presume is why Kingy has now brought L'Ghoul in. Oh for a younger Ryno to create a few chances!!!

I still think Sheri has something to offer, but I sense we've probably seen the last of him now.

With the quality in our ranks, I'm sure it will click soon.... then god help the opposition! Let's hope that Ebbsfleet are the victims on Boxing Day!
