When we have a disappointing performance i try and wait before posting as sometimes emotions can get the better of me (as everyone who stands near me will know). But after some time to chill i still feel the same as i did yesterday where I thought first half we were in control but never really threatened and second half was well below what we are capable of. We just seemed to stroll through the half without any tempo or urgency to our game and this was so disappointing and terrible to watch. It looked certain it would go to pens as neither side really posed any goal threat, or so i thought

I still feel that the lack of fans in the ground has a big effect on teams, if PP had well over a 1000 fans in there yesterday i'm sure we would have let them know our feelings and "encouraged" them on to better things. No excuses though as over the 90 mins we were well below par.

I think with Noor missing and Jebb going off highlighted how good our midfield three are and when we lost two of them it just confirmed how important they are for us. I think that also highlights why we are still tying to get things right in the final third as for me Jacob, Jack and Noor must play so it's just finding the right combination around and in front of them.

I don't mean to be disrespectful but Haringey were very average but still managed to beat us, they caused us no real problems the entire game but credit where it's due scored a well worked goal to win. I'm sure they will say their game plan worked a treat and nobody could argue with that so good luck to them in the next round but I'm sure they will face a stiffer test than they did against us.

I have no issues with Steve bringing in new players and changing the team as i have total confidence in him and he has assembled a very good squad. It looks obvious to me why he is doing it as we are still trying to find the right combinations in the final third.

MOTM for me was L'Ghoul, on the day looked most likely to create someting and unless there were reasons i am not aware of was surprised he was substituted.

All in all yesterday was a crap day all round and one to try and forget.

We now miss all the derby Christmas games and have to wait another two weeks to hear the probable confirmation of still not being allowed to watch any football.

Merry Christmas :x

And " i know Kingy likes Tinkering" that make be surprised.
Oh to have a settled side, that’s where SK will get the tinker man badge and as long as we win, it wouldn’t matter a jot but we lost, again. Not that hard to understand, I know he is trying to put an 11 out there to win a football match.

We have to get used to the chopping and changing, as fans we have to and all we crave is a win, but when we lose, are unhappy and does spoil the weekend a tad.

My over riding disappointment is our poor showing in the major cups, a big blow both to club profile and bank balance.

I have supported the Darts since birth, I love it when we win but hate it when we lose, there are reasons we win and reasons we lose, very happy to display pleasure and pain.

Hoping the whole squad and management get it right for the very important local derbies over Christmas, no one likes losing and so we need to get back to winning ways, to maintain our position in the league.

HantsDart wrote: Sat Dec 19, 2020 7:55 pm For Christ's sake Reg. Wake up. When did we ever have control of the game. Far too many errors for that. This performance was inept - lacking creativity in md field and the ability to put together the simplest of passing movements. This was a shadow of the team we had at the end of last season. How many shots did we have on goal throughout the game? The service to the forwards was non existent. I'm not itching to criticise - I seldom do. But this was just not good enough. I know I'll get flack for this, but it's just the way I see things this season.
The first half they didn't or didn't want to cross the half way line. I said it was a disappointing 2nd half performance. But "The Don" the point i tried to make was next week when we win everyone will be saying "brilliant this and brilliant that" its called being fickle. I will say again look at the picture as a whole. Not a constant, this one week when we win, and this one week when we lose. He has assembled a brilliant team and squad and I reckon I just reckon he might know a little more about it than certainly I and maybe some on here. Just maybe. We are second in the league going great guns. Steve knows where he has to improve things and he will. Its that simple. Why all the football managers out there say this and that. Ok a forum yes yes yes I get that. But the best thing I say to anyone is go and manage say a Sunday league side and work your way up the pyramid. Oh no we can't do that because well we're not football managers are we.
As for a Snowflake coor blimey you don't know the half of it. But what you should know is what you have got right before your own eyes. They don't lie you know. Dont doubt this fellas ideas or decisions believe me will gazump us all.

No one is a kingy fan more than me however it’s ludicrous to think a forum won’t be slightly critical of a performance like that.
There is absolutely no doubt king is one of the best and we’re lucky to have him however his side and maybe tactics were poor today.
I’ve no doubt he’ll put it right and he’s done a wonderful wonderful job since he’s been here.
No one is beyond a little criticism when you’re in the hot seat of the towns very well supported football club.
Today was poor and king will probably say it himself.
I wouldn’t want anyone else in our dugout.

Kingy's track record is simply outstanding and I'm delighted with him being here. I was just trying to make it clear (but clearly failing miserably!) that my frustration with the yesterday's match wasn"t a criticism of him, but the performance of the team. Personally I was also observing that so many changes every week can't help continuity?

Haringey were very average and didn't offer much, but we had no-one who was prepared to roll their sleeves up, get stuck in and really make a difference. Perhaps that was the sort of role he envisaged for David Ijaha when he signed him?

I have to say I look forward to listening to Steve King's interviews. He is brutally honest in his assessment of games, whether it's been an excellent performance or a below par performance, including sometimes his own selection or tactics. Steve will be hurting by yesterday's performance. In the same way, supporters will be hurting too because we all know the team can perform far better than that. Since we can't talk to each other, the only place we can express our thoughts in on the forum. I still have every confidence in Steve getting things to as he wants them. This year there is no team romping away as Wealdstone did last year. Haringey have been getting very good reviews over the past few seasons as a club and they would have certainly enjoyed playing in a proper football stadium on a perfect pitch. No doubt the lack of home support must still affect the players missing the encouragement of the 12th man.

My only gripe really is I suppose, that I didn't really think that players like Craig King and Ronnie Vint, who had both been playing very well, were dropped after the Dorking game. Ronnie then loaned out to Dulwich and awarded their MoM in his first game! I express an interest in that comment because I had just signed up to sponsor his kit for the season as a reward for his regaining his place ahead of Josh Hill and Connor Essam and his dedication to DFC. Thankfully, I noticed he wasn't playing for Dulwich in their FA Trophy tie, so hopefully that might indicate his return to the DFC fold after Boxing Day.

It will be very interesting to listen to Steve's post match interview when it is posted.

Meanwhile, onwards and upwards to the Ebbsfleet game on Boxing Day when I will be interested in seeing how Adam Mekki, previously at Tranmere, plays against us if he starts the game.

Yes we lost, yes we were disappointing but for crying out loud we are 2nd in the league and we have the best manager in the division in charge.. have faith!

People are making it sound like we lost yet AGAIN... it’s the FA TROPHY and a cup run would be great as well as the money for the club but the position in the league is what we should all be focusing on and we are 2nd.

Less of the negativity!

Bring on the fleet... COYD!

Haringey play either Oxford City or Truro away in the next round. Good luck to them.

I am really pleased we lost and are out of the cup so that we can now concentrate on the league. Had I known the cup wasn't important I wouldn't have streamed it. Hooray we are out of the cup COYDs.
