Maidstone United (away) Saturday, 14 November.

Post by Skip »

The top of the table clashes appear to be coming thick and fast. This match is no exception and those who have been following both clubs since the early 90s will be aware of the history that resulted in the Darts losing its ground to a housing development and the long fight to return senior football to the town. Apart from our traditional local derby clashed with Ebbsfleet, this one is next on list of must win games, for the bragging rights alone!

Their early season results suggest they will be much more competitive this year and we will need to be on our metal if we are to take all 3 points.

Let battle commence...

This game for me (and the home fixture) are the games i want to win the most (it would be fair to say they are not on my xmas card list).
Confident of a decent result as performances are improving and the goals are coming as well.
I have a feeling Elliott will play a big part in this game.

Please please please lads beat these ******* :) :)

Who could ever forget them painting our ground amber and black then taking us down. I hate Maidstone and this is a must win for me.

Perhaps John Still leaving in the Summer has let Heyrettin loose. I know he's a bit of a whiner but he's still a bloody good manager in my book.
It'll be a tough game but one in which I think we can get something from. If not a draw a win will be my choice.

They do not have a particular good record against us in the league, they do seem to have their act together though. We all know the history, we treat these games as ffs, DO NOT give an inch. I hope that the memories of our board of those awful days rub off on the players and give them a cup final mind set. Will be watching what should be a cracker.

Have complete faith in the gaffer to pick a team to match up to their much better attacking players.

There will be Darts fans who maybe do not quite ‘get’ the hostility to this club, for me it’s a match you never want to lose, they destroyed us with their ego trip and turned OUR ground into a housing estate, let bygones be bygones, no fracking chance!

Up the Darts!

We have a decent record against them and if you were able to pick and choose what opponents you gather your eventual points total from then 6 points against this lot is a must.

I only have one good memory of them during their groundshare period at Watling Street. At the time, I lived In one of the houses built on the old car park at the Stone end of the ground. When Maidstone promptly erected an uncovered seating stand behind the goal at that end, my next door neighbour wasn’t overly impressed. She knew I was a Dartford supporter but when I told her it was the tenants that had installed it, she was absolutely seething and was soon complaining to Dartford council. Within days the council had served Maidstone with a prohibition notice as they hadn’t applied for planning permission. So for months, the brand spanking new stand stood there and not one bum was allowed to warm those red seats.

So pleased I am not alone in harbouring such bitter feelings about this lot. It still turns my stomach thinking of all that yellow paint they inflicted on our brilliant old ground. Please lads, for all of us that suffered, give this lot a good seeing to.

You definitely aren't alone mickw.
It's likely that some of our players are unaware of the history and bad feeling that still exists and what this game means to us.
Would have been great if the fans were allowed as with both clubs at the top of the table the atmosphere would have been interesting!!
If we get a decent result tomorrow I'm sure every Darts fans will be very very happy.
COYD, beat these *******
