SloughTown FA Cup October 3, 3pm
Re: SloughTown FA Cup October 3, 3pm
Very staid point made by Lennylenny about the potential of a big third round draw and no fans. Disappointment of that would way overshadow yesterday’s early exit. Wouldn’t mind betting that happens to a club at our level this season.

That is pretty much my thoughts. After reflecting on the performance it wasn’t that bad when you consider the quality of opposition. On another day we could have gone 1 up through Charlie’s missed shot and Slough would have struggled to get anything from the match. Ho hum, onto Tuesday.spike wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2020 10:29 pmTrouble is Reg, thanks to the streaming it is difficult to fully assess our performance as we missed so much of it. Even when it was working in the first half, the picture was so juddery it gave me a headache trying to follow the ball. From what I did see it was fairly even and the only difference was they were awarded a penalty and we were robbed of one. It wasn't a great start, but I think people were so p***ed off with the streaming that it's added to the general disappointment. We've seen all these great players arrive and we've done so well with the play-offs and all the friendlies and the excitement level was high. It was frustrating enough that we couldn't be there but with the pi** poor technology and then the last minute defeat it feels like the whole day has turned to sh**! It would be very easy to lump all that disappointment together and take it out on the team's performance, but we shouldn't get carried away. There's so much quality in our squad I'm confident all will come good.Reginald Horsfield wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2020 4:39 pm Maybe start a thread about the streaming. And keep this for the game. I say again about the match I believe Slough did a job on us. Some part down to some huge named players having a very quiet day to say the least.
Today was a blip. Keep the faith.

And there was me dreaming, that finally, The Darts would be drawn against Tranmere in the 3rd round Proper, but that I still wouldn't get to see the game live because of lockdown!!

Yes, a disappointing result after all the high expectations, but let's not get too carried away. On the day, both teams could have nicked it, but we conceded a needless penalty and the Referee missed a certain one for us. That's the way it goes sometimes and good luck to Slough.
There were some positives and I'm confident that this squad will do the business over the season!
Thanks to Gary and all others involved for the commentary which was excellent, despite the streaming issues, which meant I missed most of the second half too.

As I said else where, we were wooden and disjointed. I expected maybe too much yesterday and was disappointed. Even the streaming issues didn't spoil it for me as every time I got it back the game hadn't altered.
Slough did a job Reggie? They didn't have to, they were poor, we were poorer. But then I take heart as to some other scores yesterday. A lot of teams beaten by lower opposition and some were walloped. I do think that all that is going on around them some players are affected by it all.
Yes, a disappointing day in all, but as said Gary couldn't help what was going on with the streaming. But we could help our performance. Better days and results to come and I'm sure King will have a lot to say to his team.
Can't help thinking that Romain, although didn't have a great game himself, often has to think who he has alongside him up front. McCallum looked cumbersome and sometimes we had one touch too many sometimes two or three. at one point we were playing one touch football and lay-offs in their six yard box. Liked the look of Kairo when he came on.
I liked King in goal, seemed confident and aware with often nothing to do with Slough being poor.
I'm sure, hopefully that we will bounce back Tuesday with an SK rocket up their backsides.
Noor Husin was my MOTM because he kept trying to get things going often from deep. Overall Matt Lench was the best player on the pitch.

When you have such a disappointing day it's probably best to go and hide under a rock for a while and take stock the next day.
Although we never played at the level we are capable of, I have now viewed the highlights several times (and in super slo-mo) and they only had one meaningful effort on target, had a penalty awarded which i'm still not convinced of as it looks like their guy may have misplaced his foot in the ground and imo we were denied two very good penalty appeals of our own (Elliotts overhead kick and Braham-Barretts shot). On top of that we created far more openings and whilst we only had one decent spell of pressure in the second half (well that's the only one i saw on the limited streaming) we can consider ourselves unfortunate to have lost the game.
So as disappointing as yesterday was, i believe there are much better days ahead and we have just got to take it on the chin and move on.

I saw the highlights. The penalty was very soft. And to award a penalty like that in the 90th minute was a big call.
Which leads me to wonder if the referee would have gìven it had there been 1500+ Darts fans present?

Great assessment. You clearly spent some quality rock time yesterday.Park Life wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2020 11:00 am When you have such a disappointing day it's probably best to go and hide under a rock for a while and take stock the next day.

Going slightly off track but sticking with the FA Cup can anyone shed any light on why, according to footballwebpages, Concord Rangers have declared an official attendance of 148 for their home game against Potters Bar this afternoon?
