Streaming all games

Post by Kebabus »

With the likely result of Boris announcement meaning we play behind closed doors going forward, would the club stream all games? Pay per view would at least bring some cash in....

Gregg. I was having the same thoughts myself.
Once I had found the link for the game, the actual payment process (I paid via the PayPal link) was the easiest one I have experienced in registering to view a streamed game this past few months, including all the away playoff games. So well done Darts.
Tranmere actually offer a free subscription to all season ticket holders and for their first game last Saturday, also included an electronic programme too.
I would certainly subscribe to a subscription service to see streamed league matches (in addition to my season ticket cost) to help the club make its way successfully through these uncertain times. But it would be also be fair to the club that if games were streamed to say a pub, then some arrangements need to be in place so that if there were say 40 fans watching a game, then they pay a fair sum and not expect for 40 fans to have only pay one subscrption of say £10 between those 40 fans.
Would enough fans be tempted to a subscription service. I qould like to think so in order to get our fix. Personally I vrry much enjoyed the Dover experience tonight.

Good shout Kebabus, I thought DFCTV did a fantastic job last night. The picture quality was better than the play offs and I enjoyed the commentary. There must be a few hundred Darts fans iwllling to pay £10 per game surely? Has to be an option for the club to bring in a bit of revenue? Well done DFCTV

I would be quite happy to buy my season ticket for the following season in advance if the club gave that option now.

It’s a good option which would help the club at this current time financially BUT come next season if the club managed to survive 🤞🤞🤞 then they would have a major slump financially that following season because any money expected would’ve already been spent. It would also need a lot of people to take up this offer to make any kind of difference.
Hopefully the club will be ok and the fans will be allowed back in soon, especially if the league can get this elite status dropped.

Statement on Wealdstone site which is worth a read , they will be streaming ALL of their home games and charging £10 per game with season ticket holders watching it for free as part of their payment for a season ticket
Whilst we are ALL itching to get to PP to actually watch the Darts this is a very good alternative and would provide the Club with some much needed funds until [ hopefully] getting back to PP becomes the norm again !!!!

I am a season ticket holder, but also spend more than a tenner on matchdays, so would be prepared to still pay for live streaming of a game to help club out a little.

Duke. I think this is possibly the only answer if games are going to be played with no fans in attendance.
Tranmere are already doing this for season ticket holders and indeed even included a free downloadable e-programme.
I can't even pretend to understand some of the decisions being made by the upper authorities. How can some clubs like St Albans and Sutton not be able to play in front of fans whilst clubs who are using their facilities are able to admit supporters is just beyond me!
I think I was the first one on the forum to suggest that a level of 1000 at PP was achievable, based on a very simple calculation. But to me each club should have its limit set depending on its own infrastructure and capacity. One size does not fit all!

To me there would also be benefits to the club in streaming, not least being that if supporters had to buy etickets to view games, then the club would then have a bigger database of supporters contact details for future mailings, which is another way of building up support to a wider audience. Also, if streaming matches, supporters would be saving on transport costs not getting to the games. There are savings to be made on not having to hire srewards etc, offsetting the COVID costs of staging the matches.
For me, I thoroughly enjoyed the quality of the streaming and presentation of our Dover game and would be registering again to watch our FA Cup game v Slough.
At a time when Steve King has established such a strong squad and playing some wonderful football, supporters will need to be engaged and encouraged to support the Club through streaming, because I can see this disruption continuing for many more months ahead yet.

No news on the FA Cup game this Saturday, I would think there could be issues for us live streaming it with the FA?
