FA website confirms that we enter the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round on 3rd October, so before any league games it seems. Early rounds are squeezed together with 3QR on Tuesday 13th Oct and 4QR on Saturday 24th Oct. No replies in qualifying rounds.

FA Trophy starts for us on 5th December in second round proper.

The prize money for the cup competitions is reduced this year but every pound will be welcomed, so every tie will have a bit more riding on it. No replays will help a crowded schedule, not sure if games go straight to penalties, but that might help players physical condition over a long season.

The government has announced that limited crowds can be allowed in at step 3 and bellow clubs. This does not include the conference as we are regarded elite the same as the football league.

We have possibly the strongest team I can recall at this level, even the player's that have moved on have been upgraded, quite incredible really. Yet, I can't help the feeling that this season will be a washout. Personally, I don't think you can have football at this level without supporters and I just hope that our players have something written into their contract's to safeguard the club's future against this possibility. In my view, it should be "no play, no pay if this happens. Even if the season goes ahead with a reduced capacity, it will still put a huge burden on club's finanaces at our level. Looking at the Maid$tone forum, they need a 1700 average to break even and I guess that our break even would be around 1200. On that note, I will get a wiggle on to purchase my season ticket and try to remain positive that the pandemic situation improves as the season progesses.

Steve King mentioned in a recent interview that we have arranged friendlies with Aldershot, Bromley and Dover and that we are looking to arrange 3 more games. It may not be possible to play friendlies against teams from a lower level as it likely that they will have already started playing league and cup or trophy matches by mid-late September. Steve may mention more about pre-season friendlies in tomorrows interview.
