Much better today, the determination and effort was evident, as far as I could tell this was down to noble and Elliot. Of the new players driver was very good greenhalgh was promising and oneyga tried very hard. Unfortunately phillpot is way off what is required but he does look very young. I thought when Sam York came on he battled well but he is never going to run past anyone so he needs to be in the box with the ball played to him directly and if he is further back advantage should be taken of his hold up abilities.
I think the defence especially vint played too many long balls
My moth goes to noble
Darts v East Thurrock

Not a pretty game and ET finishing poor thank goodness. Two well taken goals and three points the most important thing about today. Ronnie gets my vote today solid throughout and won practically everything.

Rambo you say vint to many long balls Disagree when know one comes for ball from midfield he must go long what else can he do if u watch game no one supports C / B. When got ball forwards don't want it so pressure on him to clear it
Re: Darts v East Thurrock
Yes a much better performance today and more passion shown from most of the players mainly due I think to the return of Nobes and Bradders in the centre of midfield.
A good early goal from Bonner only for an obvious handball at the other end in the box just after the restart but Derren saved the penalty.
Once we were two goals to the good we seemed to lose the plot and Thurrock had numerous chances to score but their finishing was poor and shots went high or wide but we held on for the three points.
I still feel that we could do with 2-3 new players but if the team can build on this win it may well bring out the best in those players that appear to be lacking confidence or the ability to perform at the moment as we need to go to St Albans to avenge the drubbing that we received last season from them so I hope the whole team is up for the challenge.

Every body should be a bit more happy after today's 3 points, pushes us up to 11th in the league. it can only get better!!
Re: Darts v East Thurrock
Home and away I have no problem with going long when being closed down or needing to clear the ball when under pressure but vint and bonnet needlessly go long too often when they can easily slip the ball to the full backs or midfield
Re: Darts v East Thurrock
Performance slightly better but today was all about getting a result so well done everyone.
As for the long ball debate i think the first few games the back four kept possession well and we played our way out more but this is not happening very often now. I would like to see Deren going short more as the last few games he has launched a lot straight up and we have lost possession. So between him and the back four they need to work together and give him that option, especially the full backs.
MOTM for me between Bradders, Nobes and Ben.

When we have Nobes, Bradders and Ben in the midfield things look a whole lot better. Bradders has never been anything other than class and Noble brings so much energy and drive, it really gives everyone a huge lift. Ben Greenhalgh continues to be the standout of all the newbies, I really like this guy and of the 3 three he just shaded it for my MOTM.
I don't think we should get too carried away because it's quite possible that East Thurrock will finish rock bottom and although our team showed much more spirit, the lack of firepower is still a huge problem that needs to be addressed. Nevertheless, it would be churlish to dwell on such matters on a day when our lads showed such a massive improvement on recent performances. There was no doubting the commitment today and I think the fans played their part and got behind the team too. The important thing was to stop the rot, so hats off to everyone for doing that and getting that all important win. I'm really pleased for Jamie and Adam as they may actually get some sleep tonight. I know I will.

After missing the Hungerford game due to work had a Sort of a good feeling but a little bit frustrating I feel we should be able to do more upfront than what we are doing but a win is a win and I will take that COUD
Re: Darts v East Thurrock
First game of the season for me and very pleased for the win (especially after reading the forum over the last few weeks!). We've had worse starts than this and come good so hopefully the new intake will find their feet.
The old guard looked solid enough and Greenhalgh OK despite being adrift, wide right for long periods in the first half - of the others, Philpot worked hard, Kudos showed flashes of skill and Driver was as good as last time we had him.
MoTM between Lee and Elliot - Lee just takes it.
