Play offs yes or no ?
Having read twitter feeds from many regarding the possibility of the play offs once again taking place, I write with my thoughts and wonder how you all feel.
Havant have in fact gone as far as receiving the support of the MP in trying to get the play offs to proceed and that had me thinking about what I wanted myself for my own club hence this new discussion.
We have witnessed some sensational football since Steve King came along and I have huge faith in the ability of the squad we have to beat anyone in this league whatsoever. If the playoffs were to go ahead its a mini cup tournament and would offer those players the chance to gain what I believe would be their just rewards for their efforts over the last six months or so.
Steve Irving gave a great response on Radio Kent on Friday afternoon to the National league proposals to indeed cancelling the playoffs totally. The clubs involved seem from their twitter responses are to fight this decision. Steve Irving said that the board were to meet on Monday to discuss all ideas. I for one would hope that DFC would also want to go ahead with the playoffs. Why do I feel like this, well as said earlier, I believe the players themselves would be chomping at the bit to finish the job. As Steve said, DFC are totally committed to playing in the National league proper, so what an opportunity this presents the club with that want. We would not be a "gimme" to go up next season, even allowing for Steve Kings ability so how could we not at least give it a go now over just 3 matches rather than go another whole season and even then not achieve it.
Cost will obviously be a concern, i get that, but I read Steve Kings article in todays NLP and from memory it is around a total of 13 thousand pounds as a cost to us to go ahead with the playoffs. I for one think that is a small price to pay. A very small price. I would be disappointed if we didn't give it ago because of cost.
The fans even put their hands in their pockets to raise i believe 3 thousand plus recently on a go fund me page to help the club. This to me shows hugely what we all want and my suspicion is that the fans would want to see our great club playing some huge names in just a few months time.
Yes it would be soured a lot by the fact that the playoffs would be behind closed doors buts that is simply unavoidable. That is beyond anyone but surely it could be streamed in some format for the fans. Even if we all chipped in a subscription to watch it bearing in mind that it is possible given how well we did recently we could even find ourselves at home to Dorking in one of the games.
I for one would hope that the club would proceed with what I see as a brilliant chance to see Dartford once again where they deserve to be.

Re: Play offs yes or no ?
It would cost more than £13k to run the matches if you include players wages etc. I would want nothing more to see us take part, but the League, in my eyes, have shown a total lack of leadership from the top down. The fees that the club's pay per year plus other funds should be used to compensate testing payments for the all of the Clubs involved. Wages, of course, would be covered by the clubs themselves

Of course we should have the play offs! In our position it would be madness not to invest and back Steve and the players! We hear the noises the club want National league football, here is the time we walk the walk not just talk the talk. I have nothing but respect for the people who run this club, I know they will fight along with the other clubs to give the fans the outcome to the season they deserve.

An idea, could we not livestream the play offs on some kind of pay per view, fans could donate towards? I would pay double the entrance fee to watch them

Spot on. Its seems idiotic to not pay the x thousands that is being debated to go for it over a week, then to pay half a million pounds next season in trying to achieve the same outcome. To me that's a bizarre viewpoint. Do the contracted players at the end of a season not get paid for any extra play off games. I thought that is how it worked. Given that the playoffs would be a Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday that would mean 1 weeks wages rather than the 3 that people are quoting i thought.Lennylenny wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 12:28 pm Of course we should have the play offs! As for streaming this can be done. My friend has been involved in Live streaming of Darts matches from Darts players own homes over the lockdown period. Indeed they received income from betting companies for the rights. I'm not saying that is possible in our instance, but streaming is and with a subscription fee as well. So yes revenue can be raised.Lennylenny wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 12:30 pm An idea, could we not livestream the play offs on some kind of pay per view, fans could donate towards? It is the duty of the club to fight for the right to take part in the play offs. This shouldn't even be up for debate.
Re: Play offs yes or no ?
I would be gutted not to be able to attend but agree with everyone else, we should be given the chance to compete in the play offs.
I'm sure the club feel the same as they have consistently stated they want promotion.

When I came to club I met some brilliant supporters , I wanted to be at Dartford as much as I could and started travelling away. The people I respect the most like parklife make eloquent posts about why there should be play offs. The board ARE FANS and stand with us home and away, if money is the worry about play offs, tell us fans what would help !

We want the club to be where it should. When Steve King was taken on we possibly had the threat of relgation hanging over us.That is no detriment to Adam and Jamie they had a really hard task. So when it comes to the figure being suggested to "go for it" its crazy not to. We could have been a relegated. What price the cost then ?
