Re: TONBRIDGE ANGELS (H) SAT 11TH SEP 3PM

Only my second game of the year. In short spells we were great, but we struggled to get shots on target today. The set piece play was a little disappointing, but hard to attack the ball when being grappled by the centre halves and full backs. Tonbridge deserved their point.

Hoping that my next game will be the third qualifying round of the FA Cup. Still waiting to see my team beat a league side in the greatest tournament of them all.

Re: St Albans (A) Sat 14th August 2021

Followed the match on flashscore until late in the match and assumed it finished 1-1. Great to look at Twitter back at the hotel to discover that we scored two late goals. Brilliant start to the season. I hope that we can take this momentum into the match on Saturday. Looking forward to September when I will be able to see my first proper match since we put Chelmsford to the sword before the Covid debacle.

Re: 2021/22 Season

The thought of Mr Blobby look-alikes celebrating our goals away from home is quite frightening.

Re: The playing squad for next season

It would seem that sunglasses will be a requirement at our away games next season. Not sure how the keeper will choose a colour that does not clash with the rest of the team. I think this one will take time to win my affections.

Great new signings over the last couple of weeks. Looking forward to cranking up the volume at the ground again soon.

Super League Proposals

Hard to believe that Dartford is not considered to be one of the top six, but at least it will save us from facing long midweek journeys.

On a serious note, why does the Government believe it should act to prevent six businesses from changing their business plan? What business is it of Government if six clubs choose to play in a different league next year? The Premier League is a commercial concern as are the six clubs involved. The State has no ownership in any of these entities.

Trying to stop businesses from improving their commercial performance is not the job of Government. It should leave the football clubs alone and concentrate on opening up the hospitality and leisure sector.

Re: 5,000 fans watch match in Amsterdam tonight

Perhaps both Governments realise that you can only lock innocent people up for so long before they begin to question the reasoning behind their incarceration. With so many vaccinated the risk of catching the virus in the UK is now very low and the risk of death lower still. It is fast approaching the status of the flu.

The headline figures help the Project Fear approach, but these are now being more widely questioned. The virtual exclusion from hospitals of non-Covid patients may result in countless deaths from cancers and other such diseases and we still do not know haw badly damaged the economy will be when businesses are finally allowed to reopen their doors.

Unless there is clear sensible guidance on overseas travel before the beginning of May, the travel industry will be destroyed. If people need to gamble on a clear test before boarding an aircraft, you might as well be rolling a dice to decide if you can board or not. Fail the test and waive goodbye to your holiday. There will be no recourse to insurance companies for the financial loss.

Life is full of risks and Covid is just another of those now that there is a vaccination. Time to get the country moving again and the fans back in the stadiums.

Re: 5,000 fans watch match in Amsterdam tonight

Foolish? Certainly not.

Why only 5,000 fans? Spain had 15,000 today.

Time for us to be bold, to trust in our vaccination program and to restart our economy. Project fear has lasted long enough.

5,000 fans watch match in Amsterdam tonight

Whilst the UK continues to lead the way in the continent of Europe with a vaccine roll-out program and very low rates of infection, the stringent lockdown rules currently prevent us from meeting more than one other person in an outdoor setting. In the Netherlands, the rate of infection is currently increasing. Strange then, that whilst England will play Poland at Wembley next week in an empty stadium, the Dutch allowed 5,000 fans access to their match this afternoon. Not only that, but they were standing up and drinking in view of the pitch.

Top marks to the Dutch FA for taking a different approach to the nanny state that we live in.

Re: National League North and South season declared null and void

Ni surprise at this decision. Those that wish to be proactive and return to a sense of normality being prevented from doing so by the rule makers. Merely a reflection of wider life right now.

I am not sure that we can all just start again in August as though nothing has happened. I assume that there will need to be major changes in the management structure of the league and also in the wording of the constitution, which clearly is not democratic. Perhaps it is time for some clubs to consider if they really want to be this far up the pyramid together with clubs that have clear ambitions.

With only four months to sort out the mess, the powers that be need to act quickly.

Roll on the cricket season.

Re: National League North and South season declared null and void

Sadly, we will not be allowed to watch as watching sport is no longer a permitted activity.
