Re: Slough Town away January 18
Didn’t quite click for us, today, but I honestly feel Slough are very good at what they do!
Got their noses in front, then broke up play at every opportunity.
Good teams do that!
We go again

Re: Kingstonian (H) FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round
1 obvious thing from Saturday
We are going to play out from the back
Not sure Smith went long with a single goalkick.
But that is a waste of time if he passes short to Hill\Vint and then they go long!
Smith will hit the ball as far as they do, from 10 yards in front of Smith.
But our defensive line can be 30 yards further up the pitch!
We are definitely in transition, but I’m confident it will improve

Re: Kingstonian (H) FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round
Stood with a Kingstonian supporting mate, first half.
A few observations from the opposite end of the ground of the dire first half.
Early doors Smithy pulls off a worldly, that was going into the top corner.
From the resulting corner, he punches with two hands straight up in the air. Catch it!
The first goal, we make a decent block. The ball goes a long way up, the lad swings a boot at it, it flies into the bottom corner.
The 2nd goal!
I’ve read some posters put that down to Gibbons.
For me, Wanadio floats an unnecessary ball 40 yards across from left to right and nobody tells Gibbons ‘Man on!’
The break is on from there, but they still seemed to have too much time. We need to get back quicker.
For me the biggest sin of the first half was the freekick.
Smithy wants 3, we take an eternity to wander over then give him 4(?)
He was screaming at the wall to move to their left, but no-one is facing the keeper to listen to his instructions.
Sure enough, the freekick goes to the walls left.
He has to go full length to deal with it, but surely if the wall is in place, he can take a step further away in the knowledge the wall has that covered!
The penalty, yeah Gibbons sticks out an inviting leg and the lad makes sure he goes over on it!

Re: Oxford City (A)
From my angle, Smithy got finger tips on the one that hits the post.I may be wrong, but I’m not so sure it was luck!tommytollbooth wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 7:46 am We dug in and finally got some luck when they laid siege to our goal towards the end of the second half and hit the post. The 4 minutes of added on time went on for eternity. Beautiful goal by Ben and he was helped by an overlapping run down the wing by Rob Howard which seemed to distract some of their defenders. 3 big points to us and well done TB and Paul Sawyer for getting the team up and fighting again.
Agree 100% about Rob Howard’s run!

Re: Oxford City (A)
Arguably our best team performance this season.
Defended as a team, battled for everything.
Luke W chasing their right back down and winning the tackle in our box, late 2nd half
Bonz clearing off the line in injury time.
Smithy important saves, in each half
Pughy and Macca working their nuts off, upfront
Everyone was up for it, today, and to be fair to Oxford City, 2nd half we needed to be.
My MOTM the team. But if pushed Ben just shades it for the goal

We wore purple and Smithy wore a Concord shirt but I get your gist!

I’ve read many, threads you challenge people to stop criticising and go do better.
What’s good for the goose!

Re: Darts v Dorking (Sat 7th Sep 3pm)
We could argue the rights and wrongs with the free-kick Steve, tbf having watched it live and watched the highlights, I’m of the opinion it was just a great free-kick.Steve945 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2019 5:31 pm Two goals gifted to Dorking by a bad goal keeping total wrong position we don’t only need a left back we need a good keeper. As for the two tall me how many more games do we have endure before this team realise that booting the ball to the tallest player is so predictable when will we start playing from out the back
I was sitting that end, Flish pulled their guy back outside the area, who did his very best to get inside the area to fall over. Freekick the right decision.
Smithy wanted 3 in the wall but Ben going down injured changed the dynamics, so made do with 2.
Great freekick from Sole, who has form for that!
I’ll obviously bow to you’re greater knowledge with the 2nd goal ‘gifted’ to them, because I didn’t see 1 let alone 2
