Re: TONBRIDGE ANGELS (H) SAT 11TH SEP 3PM

The worst referee we've had since the whistle trigger happy John Hopkin, who totally ruined our match with Forest Green Rovers. I found myself following match reports of games he refereed after that dreadful day and to the fury of other managers his performances didn't seem to get any better.
He soon disappeared into obscurity. Sunday football maybe?
Yesterday's official could do worse than take the same path.
Although Tonbridge took their goal well it unfortunately stemmed from a blatant foul on Azeez which the referee inexplicably gave the other way.
As for the handball, the ball stuck to to their player's hand, who made no attempt to get his hand out of the way, but instead expertly controlled the ball to spoon it away from the danger zone.
Totally unacceptable.
If a referee can miss something like that then quite frankly he shouldn't be out there.

Re: TONBRIDGE ANGELS (H) SAT 11TH SEP 3PM

I won't be surprised if Tonbridge park the bus on Saturday, in an attempt to be the first side to take something from us this season.
Hopefully their bus will get slapped with a penalty notice and we'll grind out a win.

Re: BATH CITY (A) SAT 4TH SEP 3PM K.OFF

To achieve maximum points from our opening 5 fixtures, 4 of which coming against opposition who, and with good reason, harbour the same ambitions as ourselves is truly phenomenal.
Shame about the radio commentary which was quality unlike the transmission.
Something else to look forward to tomorrow, apart from the NLP and match highlights, is the Marc White interview.
Hopefully this will be a regular feature in the weeks to come giving us the same entertainment value we have all thus so far enjoyed this season.
Long may it continue.

Re: Eastbourne Borough (H) Mon 30th Aug 3pm

I'm not going to repeat what's been said already. We all know what we saw today and although it's still very early days the table doesn't lie already as far as first place is concerned.

What stands out the most for me today, apart from the obvious, was a passage of play during the first half involving a series of slick passes, including two smart dummies, which almost led to a goal. It was a move involving several players which wouldn't have looked out of place in the Championship. Even the Premier League.

When you see this kind of football, being played at this level, then you really have to be forgiven for daring to believe we could be looking at a one horse race here in the National League South season 2021/22.

Re: Sloff (H) 21st August 2021 3 P.M

Traffic jams caused by road closures and the Dartford Crossing causing chaos in the town from early afternoon until the evening practically every blimming day now.
Living just off Burnham Road is akin to being under curfew from 8pm until 6am for 3 weeks due to road closures in the area. I join the queue at the road block every night to explain the reason for my journey.
Infact I feel more restricted now than at any time during the lockdowns.
Add that to every available piece of land being sold to developers and the town will eventually grind to a halt.
A money making social experiment overseen by the powers that be. None of whome I very much doubt actually live here, but more likely to be found residing in the leafy suburbs of the likes of Tonbridge and Sevenoaks.

But we do now have a very good football team to watch for those that can still get here.
We moved the ball around very well today, got forward quickly and were in control of the game from start to finish with our keeper barely troubled, unlike Slough whose keeper was their man of the match.

I saw a team today which can more than hold it's own in the National League.

Great stuff. Roll on next Saturday!

Re: 2021/22 Season

Contrary to Marc White's observations questioning what other jobs would the National League Board be capable of doing, we can now look forward to their departure with hopefully a new, dynamic, forward thinking body in place next season.
The current shower's reward for their handling of the recent 20/21 campaign has earned them a lucrative cushy little number due to being head hunted after attracting the attentions of EU headquarters in Brussels.
It should be a fairly straightforward transition for them going from distributing lottery grants to Covid vaccines.

Re: National League North and South season declared null and void

I'm just wondering where BT Sport got their information from regarding no relegation from the EFL. I haven't found anything from other media outlets to substantiate that yet.
Has anyone heard anything further to back up their claim?

Re: National League North and South season declared null and void

As Marc White stated in a previous interview what other jobs would the National League board be capable of doing?
My god, can you imagine what it would be like if they ran a fire station.
Everything would be hunkydory while they are sitting up in their office playing cards enjoying their tea and biscuits.
But when the shout arrives, (a term used when a fire appliance is needed urgently) it'll be a case of oh shit! what do we do now? Getting up of their arses won't be one of the options for starters.

The resourcefulness shown by many of our clubs' managers and directors at Step 2 during the past year has been nothing short of amazing. There is still time to save the season as we wouldn't have to resume until mid April under the recent proposal.

The NL board has been a dead loss from day one. Unfortunately that's what you get from too much dead wood.
The reason why the board haven't foreseen the outcome of their actions is because they weren't that interested in the first place. If they were it was limited only to the elements which interested them.
During meeting with DCMS they took on board only what they wanted to hear. It beggars belief that no minutes were taken at a meeting of such importance.
Let's hope they haven't misheard, not heard, misread, misinterpreted or anything else from that day, i.e. 'In the event the National Leagues are not completed without DCMS consultation and approval all monies distributed through the National Lottery shall be returned'.
I'm just waiting for it.

Put simply.

The National League is a national disgrace.

Re: National League North and South season declared null and void

Hopefully there will now be no relegation from the EFL. The NL have been digging a hole for themselves right from the off.
With the prospect of nothing to play for project FARCE is almost complete.
Fingers crossed the wheels are really coming off now and the air bag will finally explode in the faces of the biggest self-servers.
