My first post. But I feel strongly about this. IMO whatever the circumstances, what we did to AW was wrong. He had committed to us and we left him high and dry one week before the start of the new season. We should have been equally committed to HIM and in the past the club has always claimed the moral high ground, but can no longer. The other players would have looked at this askance (AW had fulfilled pre-season obligations and was by now an established member of the squad). In one fell swoop a demoralising atmosphere was created in the dressing room. Philpott would have been up against it from the start but he made it worse with the penalty incident. All this is reflected on the pitch. (Chelmsford excepted, everyone get's up for Chelmsford). The Chairman and managers need to quickly restore TRUST and with it confidence among the team. And always do the right and proper thing in future. Loyalty works both ways.
