Pre Season Friendlies 2024-2025

Post by rambo »

Irrespective of what league we are in next season I would like to suggest that only one home game is arranged for purposes of income. The other games home and away should be selected to give us a chance of scoring some goals and winning games.
This seasons pre season games set the rot in and ruined players confidence following loss after loss. Let’s make sure that does not happen again

==========

Sat 6th July 3pm - Charlton (H)
Tue 16th July 7:45pm - Margate (A)
Sat 20th July 1pm - Ashford Utd (H)
Tue 23rd July 7:45pm - Gillingham (H)
Sat 27th July 3pm - Sutton (H)
Sat 3rd Aug 3pm - Boreham Wood (H)

Rambo, I can heartily recommend a day out at Felixstowe & Walton United for a preseason match. In fact I’ve already mentioned it to Steve Irving. The ground is only a short walk from the station and not far from the prom. Although based on my extensive knowledge of them this season I’m not sure they’ll roll over for the Darts to smash in a few cheap goals…

If only, it will be the usual easy money games that I don't attend. I have no interest in seeing Charlton/Millwall/Gillingham reserves thanks.

That would be agreeable to me Skip, I don’t want to be playing Charlton millwall gillingham orient and concede 16+ goals
I would prefer to build some momentum for the season

Yes Rambo, could never understand those fixtures. I know it's all about fitness levels but they were mainly for getting a big crowd in on a sweltering hot day for half a team of trialists and three teams from the opposition.

The friendlies against league clubs are a big money maker for us and in the current climate very important.

As long as we've got a good mix of friendlies it makes sense.

Agreed Lars , furthermore I am convinced the friendly thrashings we took last summer really confused Dowson, mind you it doesn’t take much to confuse him
If we can get a few good pre season results if can be a springboard for the new season

I get it that financially it is good for the club PL. But on a personal level they never really appealed.

I know what you mean mate and we normally have to fit in with their pre season schedule so games are early and we're not fully up to speed.
But if we can get 2 or 3 decent friendlies against league opposition.........KERCHING
