I was unable to attend the match at Homelands, but on checking the half-time scores found us trailing a goal to nil. The previous two encounters with Ashford (one league and one FA Cup) proved that United were no pushovers and anything could have happened in today’s game.
One wondered if this might prove to be a ‘banana-skin’ game leading up to Christmas? Having had a week off after a postponement of their game at Dulwich Hamlet, this might have turned out to be ‘just one of those games where things wouldn’t go right’.
BUT, NEVER FEAR!
Never fear - Connor and Macca had the Darts fired up and in the end didn’t allow anything to come in the way of that tenth league win and with it an unbeaten league record going into the Christmas and New Year break.
This indeed is a Monumental Achievement by any standards.
Two goals from Emily Vaughan brought her personal tally to 16 goals (11 league and 5 cup) and Darts League goals total to 39 …. and only 9 conceded!
