Excellent away win that, keeping the pressure on, just got to keep winning, sounds easy, lol.

By end January it will all be a bit closer, games wise.

Happy with that!

A fantastic win. These are the sort of games that always worry me especially as we have already dropped points in similar games this season so listening to the commentary this afternoon I am very pleased.

We can only do our jobs and hope that other teams do us a favour. I'm sure Dowse won't let any complacency creep and and will ensure games are approached in a professional way.

Good win that not an easy place to go and play any football. Thought we earned the right to play and then ran away with it early in the second half. Special mention to the ref not sure I have ever heard an official say “yes he kicked him in the head but….” When explaining why a penalty was not awarded!

Match report by Chris Palmer

A superb second-half display ensured that Dartford recorded a fourth league win in a row, as their superior quality proved too much for Cheshunt to deal with.

As 619 supporters braved the wet and windy conditions, the in-form hosts were hoping to enact revenge on their 2-1 defeat at Dartford earlier in the campaign. Pierre Fonkeu netted a brace on that occasion, but he started on the substitutes’ bench this time around, leaving the Ambers to deal with the excellent duo of Luke Coulson and Malachi Napa instead.

The omens looked good for the hosts at the start of this fixture. Afterall, they’d hit a good run of form recently, which had seen them beat Ebbsfleet United 1-0 in an unbeaten run reaching five games. However, Alan Dowson’s side are a different proposition and so it proved to be…

As the weather conditions continued to batter the pitch, the start of the game was an even affair with neither side able to get into any kind of rhythm.

The Ambers created the first half-chance early on when Rowan Liburd fired well wide of Dan Wilks’ goal, before the Dartford goalkeeper dealt with a free-kick with ease after Kristian Campbell had fouled Cheshunt skipper Joe Re in the 10th minute.

As the rain lashed down, both sets of players couldn’t keep the ball down, preferring to play it high instead… particularly the hosts, who tried to play their long-ball tactics with the hope of catching out the Dartford defence. However, Tom Bonner and Co were in fine form this afternoon.

That being said, Re did manage to locate Liburd with a great ball after 31 minutes. The latter tried the shot, but Bonner was on hand to make a brilliant block before the hosts put it behind for a Wilks goal-kick.

But, just as it looked as if the Ambers were finding their feet, the Darts won their first corner of the game after terrific work from Kristian Campbell. Luke Coulson sent a dangerous ball into the box and Rowan Liburd headed it beyond his own goalkeeper by mistake.

Cheshunt tried to respond and, despite the elements (which were actually in their favour during this half), earned themselves a corner before the break. The ball eventually fell to Emmanuel Maja on the edge of the area, but Wilks was able to make a routine save.

The second-half started in much the same manner, until the visitors began to assert their superior quality. And, shortly afterwards, Alan Dowson’s side hit the Ambers with a quick-fire double.

After Dan Wilks had collected the ball, he launched a long pass towards Luke Coulson who, despite the attempts to thwart him, still managed to race forward before being able to send the ball beyond Adam Desbois to double the Darts’ lead (51).

The visitors were then awarded a free-kick by referee Mr Steven Hughes seconds later, which Coulson sent straight into Cheshunt’s danger area… where it was met by the towering header of Dartford skipper Tom Bonner… which he duly sent into the back of the net (52).

Despite being shell-shocked by the Dartford blitzkrieg, the hosts tried to respond and drag themselves back into the game. But, they came up against the superb Dartford defence which was proving to be a tough nut to crack. Connor Essam was on hand to intercept Tyrelle Newton’s effort before Wilks was able to collect (55).

Dartford’s first change in personnel took place after 64 minutes, when Keiran Murtagh replaced Jordan Wynter. That would be followed by Charlie Sheringham coming on for Alex Wall (70) and Pierre Fonkeu replacing Malachi Napa (75).

Meanwhile, as we return to the action, Malachi Napa was brought down inside the Cheshunt box as he raced towards goal with the ball, only to see Mr Hughes wave away the penalty appeals (66). The young midfielder was putting in another good performance for the Darts and has also extended his loan period for another month.

On the other side of the pitch, teammate Luke Coulson was in fine form once again. And, having already scored one and assisted with two, came close to adding a second goal of his own in the 69th minute. It was a good drive by one of the best players this afternoon, but Desbois was equal to it on this occasion to keep the score at 3-0.

The hosts continued to try though, and were able to net a consolation goal in the 84th minute. Substitute Brandon Njoku was the goal scorer, despite the best efforts of Maxwell Statham to stop him.

But, it wasn’t enough as Dartford closed ranks to ensure that they returned to Kent with yet another victory on the road to maintain their five point lead at the top of the National League South table.

Considering the awful weather today I believe that was their highest attendance of the season so far ?

A good 3 hard earned points today in terrible conditions. The pitch was heavy after so much rain and if you put the ball in the air you had the wind to deal with .
So it was not a great watch for the first 35 minutes until a fortunate break through . Liburd the Cheshunt number 9 planted a fantastic header past his own keeper 😁😁😁.
We took control after that and scored again early into the second half , Coulson slipped the ball through the keepers legs after riding several attempts to chop him down .
The 3rd followed soon after , a lovely in-swinging free kick was meet by Tom Bonner who’s powerful header beat the Cheshunt keeper
Cheshunt to their credit never gave up and probably played their best football once they had nothing left to lose .

Enjoy the goals

Liburd scores an own goal to give Dartford the lead v Cheshunt

Coulson scores Dartford’s 2nd v Cheshunt

Tom Bonner scores Dartford’s 3rd v Cheshunt

This game was won by the Darts as being the better TEAM on the day and full credit to them get stuck in and non bemoaning the pitch/conditions as our " prima donna neighbours " did a couple of weeks ago - thats the difference !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A Cheshunt fan[ in the know ] told me that Ebbsfleet wanted to send a delegation down to Cheshunt to check out facilities etc [ for their little darlings ] but were told to politely f...k of !!!!!

Not the best game I have ever seen but loved the spirit and hated the weather !!

Another Great Win. Think Chelmsford could be an assist in the run in, they are not going to catch us, they are sitting in 4th, lost today, have beaten us and we play them again at Home. Havant have to play them and Ebbsfleet have to play them twice, plus Havant have to play Ebbsfleet.
Dare I say that our run in looks a little more comfortable than the other 2, we have 8 Teams in the Top 12 to play, Havant play 9 and Ebbsfleet play 11 in the Top 12. I know that these figures mean nothing at this stage but all is looking very rosy at this moment in time and the main thing is we are playing our best Football of the Season COYD

A very good result today as this had all the makings of a difficult game so to come away with three points was very pleasing.

First half was a bit scrappy as Cheshunt worked really hard and we didn't really get going, conditions also made it difficult for both teams.

Second half was much better from us as we came out with more purpose and got two quick goals to secure a deserved victory.

MOTM for me Luke Coulson, he's being playing well for a while now and showed again today what a quality player he is.

An important 3 points, well done Darts. First half we were up against it a bit, felt they were more likely to score (well they did in the end, theoreticaly). Second half we stepped up an scored twice to put the game to bed. However when they got 1 they pushed for a second, but we held firm and took a deserved, ground out win.

Great to see Bonner get one, looked like a good finish from the angle. Coulson again superb.

My first trip to the ground, looks like a work in progress, with 3g pitches for other games, nice big bars and covered area. Sat with my boy in the stand far side, not sure why it's so far from the pitch, very strange as it's so far from the pitch, you cant see much. A welcoming place which I'm sure 250-300 darts enjoyed the trip out.

Rose to the challenge this fixture was always going to pose - job done!

My first trip to Cheshunt - good can experience though ground facilities (pitch side) basic! I’m sure they know where they’re at!!

Agree with the many comments about Luke’s performance and he gets my MotM vote. His experience will be important to us in the run in!

Every games a big game now. All we need do is concentrate on winning our games and the rest will sort itself out. COYD.

A good win for the lads in poor weather. Good to see Luke and Samir working hard together in midfield. Not to forget Kristian and Max playing very well for the team. Good all round performance, Let's hope we keep it up. Superb run by Kristian leading up to the first goal and a MOTM performance from Luke.

Another great day out. The most basic of grounds and quite a trek for facilities after a two-hour sesh before kick off and with a broken seal! Decent bunch of locals even if they are Spuds fans at heart!
( c’mon, fess up, who gave Wally MOTM ? 😂 )
