I don't think we ever got out of second gear but the gulf between the two teams was huge and that was more than enough to run out comfortable winners. Credit to Hythe, they did try to play a bit of football and scored a decent goal, but the outcome never looked in doubt. In all honesty I think we played better last week, but today we did what we needed to and you can't complain with a 5-1 win. Motm has to be Ade.

Comfortable victory for The Darts today against Hythe , and has someone has already said we never really got out of second gear , but there was a period of the game when soon after their equaliser , Hythe had a couple of chances to take the lead , and CK was called upon to make a decent save. But overall it was comfortable for the Darts and Ade deserved his Motm .

Thought today was classic ‘How not to lose a Banana Skin game’!!
Scored early, they have a good spell & score a good goal but then the gulf in class showed & we finished them off with aplomb!!

Enjoyable game though they seemed to carved straight through us for their goal - luckily that was the best they could manage. Danny Leonard MoM for me as he was a threat all the time he was on the pitch and scored a classy goal.
We seem to be obsessed with watering the pitch lately - is this because of global warming??

I dunno WHY the pitch keeps getting watered so much, but at times it clearly causes the turf to get cut up and footing to be lost. Time for a bit of a rethink?

My MoM also has to go to Danny Leonard, with a fantastic solo goal and assists for the 1st and the penalty after great ball control, he was a threat throughout the game. What a signing he's been.

I’d echo the ‘banana skin!’ comment. A cup upset was ‘on’ but not for long. We dealt with that in a professional manner. Ade Azeez MOTM.

If the manager didn't want the pitch watered at half time then I'm sure it wouldn't be happening. He must have his reasons. Whatever the reason, it seems to be working. They can run the sprinklers for the whole 90 minutes for all I care, as long as we keep getting the results.

You need plenty of water on the pitch for the 2nd half subs.

An excellent result today and a job well done by the sounds of it.
Gutted I missed the game but was at an Olly Murs concert at the Hop Farm with my wife & daughter.
Poor Trevor B missed the game as he was playing taxi for us, sorry Dad 😁.
Hopefully look forward to a home draw in the next round.

Thanks to KST as usual for the goal footage.

Didn't see him myself but as a taxi dropping the family off was easy and just took a couple of minutes but for torture and a nightmare it was the picking up after the show at around 10.45pm
I was directed by marshals' onto the grassed parking area and this was where all the 100's of cars had been parked before the show and where all of them were now trying to get off and it took 50 minutes to get a couple of hundred yards back onto the road.
Olly bl***y Murs :x :x bring back The Searchers for me :)

Back to the match and a good win for us with some well worked goals and thanks to Kev for showing me and others the goals from todays game

Was as it should be, a relatively easy win with, as spike says, not getting out of second gear. Fair performance from an injury hit Hythe, but as said, we should have won that with them having a full compliment.
Now, whatever happened to Tonbridge?
Seemingly two very good signings from Steve. Haven't seen them yet. :?:
Up the Darts. Or lack of. :D

First game missed because of a family do, but good to see the regular updates and read the comments and Kev's photos later - thank you.

Ade deserves the plaudits for his hat-trick. He has been consistently strong and uses his height and speed to get in the right spaces and makes goal-scoring seem simple. Has an arrogant swagger about him, which is good in a target man to out-muscle defenders and lay off to his co-strikers. His challenge led to Jebb's wonder goal last week, and we looked less threatening after his substitution.

Agree with comments about Danny Leonard's exciting wing play. He excelled at St Albans then maybe tried too hard for his first goal in the next games, but obviously showed yesterday and in the second half last week what we missed in the first half. Two really good signings.

Class and fitness rose like cream to the top by the closing stages.
Danny Leonard MOT for me. His contribution played a massive part in putting the tie to bed well before time.

I saw Faversham play Chichester in Hythe Town's league a few weeks ago. It was a forgettable match where neither side looked like play-off contenders. Unlike yesterday's visitors who gave it a real go. They'll have a good season.

Despite the excess timber floating about, their team oozed experience playing to their strengths and did the basics very well.

At the end of the day we did what we had to do and it was job well done.

Looking forward to the draw tomorrow lunchtime.

Catching up on the last week's events at PP as just back from a great day at cricket yesterday, congratulations to Kent Spitfires on becoming 20 over champions, first success for our County this 'winter'. Now looking forward to more Kentish success through our ever improving Darts FC. Sounds like a job well done yesterday and here's to another home draw in the next round. Well done to all.
One question, I note the two new excellent additions to the squad, and one poster mentioned "2 in 1 out". Who is the "out"? Have I missed an announcement to that effect?
Looking forward to the battle of the bus stop next Saturday with confidence.
