Thankyou Park Life an excellent reminder of that day and I was there with my son Matt (The 5th Searcher) as he reminded me plus another goal from Tony Burman to remember.

I can remember going to the Metropolitan Police game in the 1984 85 season in the FA Cup 1st Round when we beat them 3-0
My dad and I sat in the grandstand and two rows behind us was the Match Of The Day commentator and yes we were on the television that night and
we watched George Borg scoring a cracking goal again.

Dad I know I’m getting older but I’m your son not your dad , I was with you at that game. Your dad had passed away many years before.

It was Tony Gubba doing the commentary for this game for
Match Of The Day.

George Borg hit an absolute screamer.

I also remember presenting a cheque to the Met Police at another match at their ground, the generous Darts fans had held a collection a week or two leading up to the game for a terminally Ill disabled child who required much needed treatment abroad from what I can remember. It was all linked to Met Police FC, I vaguely remember a few clubs all helping out.
I know we managed to raise a few hundred pounds for them anyway.

Just been looking at previous results against Met Police for the match preview. The Princes Among Men book lists two games in 1974-75 took place in the MSFL. Does anyone know what this competition was and what MSFL stands for please?

It's a good job you corrected me that's what happens at 74 the memory not so good but my main excuse for the error I was trying to do two things at once as I was supposed to be at home working on the firms computer spreadsheets and tried to catch up on our postings as well and in between a phone call and look what happened
I put the references to my dad on the wrong posting as it should have gone on the Darts trip to Wembley as I was on the coach with him.
Both postings now corrected
