Grassbank wrote: Sat Nov 19, 2022 6:06 pm 5th, you have a short memory. At least we had somebody who usually plays in goal on the pitch today. I seem to recall a Trophy game when we took to the field without one. We lost that day as well.

The last time we were embarrassed in a cup competition by a team from leagues below us, we bounced back with a ten-match unbeaten run.

You have to try to find the positives!
Just because it happened once Grassbank doesn’t mean it’s going to happen again. As some fans that went today have said, todays game was even worse than last weeks.
You may also have a short memory because It was also the case that not so long ago after we had been on a great run in the league we then lost in a cup game against a lower league team and we went onto a very poor run of results. Oh and that manager had also just won manager of the month as well the same as Dowse has just done for October, may be the curse has struck again.

Don’t get me wrong I really hope that history doesn’t repeat itself and these last 2 results have given all of the team a major kick up the arse and I hope they can turn it around and put pressure on the top 2. I want our team to do well & succeed.

I like Dowse, I’m pleased he is angry and I’ve no problem with him calling out players in fact I’m all for it.
I wasn’t there but would have been nice if while criticising the players he acknowledged the supporters who invest huge amounts of time and money to be served up with this performance.

I don’t think I missed him saying it

That’s the problem with interviews straight after the game. Having exchanged pleasantries with Dowse many times recently I have absolutely no doubt that he and the club appreciate the time, money and commitment it’s fans invest.

Agree with you mate, just after results/performances like this, and they do happen, they should be acknowledging it straight away.

Maybe I’m just being over sensitive and people aren’t too bothered, I wasn’t there but I’ve been to most shockers we’ve had.

I think the Board should divvy up the prize money for those fans who travelled. (I didn’t. Sadly, I ‘saw’ it coming.)

Seriously, it’s done. We move on but it can’t continue and we need to strengthen in ALL areas. See you all when we bring the Concord down!

Hi Dean, thank you for pointing out that Oxford C lost to lower opposition, but at least they took them to penalties. Maybe City fielded a weaker side in view of the fact that they were playing the mighty Darts Tuesday.
Maybe someone had better point out that City also play in Blue and white hoops. Just don't want the lads thinking they are still playing SS.
Having just viewed the first four minutes of the game I say good luck to Swindon Supermarine in the Trophy, but they'll not get an easier game than yesterdays. :D
Once again bloody awful defending, seemingly worse than last week.

For the first time ever watching a Darts team play I did not know how to react when the players came to applaud the supporters.....in the past I have always clapped them for their efforts win, lose or draw.

I'm with you on this one, always feel like interviews shouldn't happen straight after the game when emotions are high. Dowse isn't stupid he know exactly what he needs to sort but he's not going to be able to explain all of that in a 5 minute interview.

Dowse is a great manager and has had a start to this season nobody saw coming. Now is the time to get those signings hes been talking about through the door to ensure we don't drop off.

I was at the game yesterday and it was a really bad day but imo to ask the club to contribute to the fans costs who travelled is ridiculous.
If we play really well and win comfortably they don't ask us for more money

You pay your money and take your chances, it's football.

Good point. But my comment was a bit tongue-in-cheek Park Life. More of a statement to ‘underline’ the disappointing performance (again in a cup match against lower opposition) combined with respect to you and the other poor sods who, unlike the team, made the effort. Thankfully, our great performances seriously outweigh the shit ones.

I didnt go but the highlights {?} confirmed Dowse's comment that we got bullied but surely our lads have to match up even IF we resort to kicking a few of them " up in the air " better that than being taken the p..s out of being a soft touch , can you imagine the likes of Harry Cripps , Storey, Stiles or Chopper Harris rolling over ????????????

IF I want to see a team of pacifists then I.ll go watch Ladies Netball !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wasn't aimed at anyone in particular mate as there were a few who made the comment and lets be honest, they will comment again because they are regular supporters who follow the team through thick and thin and days like yesterday p everyone off.

Why do we do it???

It's our team and in our blood........ along with the alcohol

See you at Oxford.

Got it. Ta.

Sadly missing Oxford too. DFC is DEFFO ‘in the blood’ - but sitting in traffic queues on closed, or partly closed, motorways in midweek isn’t! 😆
