Hopefully he’ll get the opportunity to prove what a bloody good player he is!

Re: Dartford Players of The Past
Would anyone know when Nicky Crown joined and left? and who did he join from and where did he go to?
I think he joined for the return to the Alliance Premier League in 1984/85 but I could be out by a season or two.

Nicky Crown - 1984-85 and 1985-86. Inside forward, played for Grays Athletic in February 1981, Epping 1981-82 and then Barking from the end of 1981-82 season, for whom he was top-scorer for two seasons. Signed for us in August 1984. He has a brother, David who played for Reading.
1984-85 Dartford finished 3rd in the Gola League and Crown played 39 times that season (31 starts and 8 sub appearances) and scored 12 goals
1985-86 Dartford finished second from bottom and he made 12 starts and 11 sub appearances scoring 2 goals

Re: Dartford Players of The Past
With no Darts game yesterday, a good friend of mine invited me to Southend vs Tamworth match,
he has some corporate ticket, which includes a meal beforehand and Nick Crown's brother David
(a Shrimpers record goal scorer) was host, he told me his brother still goes on about us drawing Man U
out of the hat in the FA Cup but sadly we lost the replay with Bournemouth, so it didn't happen.
On the pitch our old player Noor Husin put in a good shift.

Great memories.
We all recall that 3rd round cup draw straight after the 2nd round matches were played at about 5pm on the Saturday. We were listening to the radio in the bar at Watling Street when Man Utd were drawn and then our ball number. Beer was liberally dispensed over all and sundry during the celebrations that ensued. Another one of those near misses that includes the four FA Trophy semi final defeats that still irk.

They probably got to see more of him in 1 game than we got to see of him in 4 sub appearances.tommytollbooth wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 8:02 am Ben Allen scores for Margate last night. I know its a level below but they seem to rate him.
We rated him but clearly the management didn’t.

Probably the saddest part about our season’s story so far. Ady clearly has a plan. He lets one of our best leave (another one) and brings in two non contracts who’ve hardly kicked a ball in yonks. The 5th Searcher wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 5:56 pmThey probably got to see more of him in 1 game than we got to see of him in 4 sub appearances.tommytollbooth wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 8:02 am Ben Allen scores for Margate last night. And people wonder why the budget/financial status of the club is always brought into question.
Re: Dartford Players of The Past
Not a player Kings contract terminated with immediate effect by Hednesford.
Following a breakdown in the relationship between First Team Manager Steve King and the Board of the Club, Steve’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect.
An interim management team, featuring Martin Hunter—whose coaching background includes Southampton, Bradford, Norwich, and Watford—alongside Junior Lewis and Head of Youth Development Andy Turner, will oversee first-team responsibilities until further notice.
The club’s priority is to uphold its principles of integrity and professionalism in all matters.
Further updates will follow as the club progresses with its plans.

Just read the report on King. Dartford are not mentioned in his former clubs. Just shows what an impression we made.
