Who are ya?

Post by Tony H »

Lennylenny wrote: Mon Nov 15, 2021 6:17 pm Spike I agree everyone should show there real identity but on every single football forum that is not the case so what makes Dartford’s so special ? Maybe people don’t put there real names because of the unpleasant comments that I myself have experienced if you happen to not agree with the views of those who have followed Dartford for years so are in places of position who believe any new fans should be seen and not heard. Yes I am Kingie’s friend but got so bored of defending him every time we didn’t win 5/0 and the excitement from some long term fans when we lose , would rather now just walk the dog and enjoy life. It’s fine putting your name to things Spike obviously your real name , if there are no consequences , this is not the case at Dartford in my view , so good luck with your transparent forum.
I’m on here as Tony H, real name (Hardy in full). I don’t hide behind any false name when commenting. Feel free at any time to find me at a game and buy me a drink. Cheers! 👍

I've got no problems hiding behind my name at all
It's been my name since I was born, my forum name since signing on the forum when Puredfc started off what seems years ago now and funnily enough, that's what people still call me!

I decided at the outset when joining Puredfc to go under my own name, simply because having moved away from Dartford in 1960 up to Merseyside when I was 13, losing contact with the club in the late 70s, 80s and early 90s before reconnecting with the club at the turn of the century. I knew there were still fans around from my days at Dartford Technical High School, and have reconnected with many of them, and many more super Darts fans. So no need for me to hide.

Onto the game itself, having just seen the highlights and the SK interview, just confirms how the match commentary came across as a highly entertaining game. Muddy's comments that all he wanted was for the boys to put in as much effort as he does in getting to matches, and being delighted in those efforts, says it all really. How just one of those efforts didn't get over the line was quite unbelievable, even though Oxford had opportunities themselves. Great to see the crowds creeping up, especially with very view Oxford fans travelling. If those numbers included tickets being handed out to schools, I'm all for it. For that was exactly how my association with the Darts started as tickets were handed out as a 10 year old in 1958 at Temple Hill primary school, and making his first trip up to Watling Street. Long may it continue!

Between Jebb and Meade for MOTM, I went for Jebb. Fantastic crowd and a cracking atmosphere. The only thing missing was that all important winning goal. The biggest disappointment for me is seeing that this forum has been hijacked again. I think we should have proper authentication, names and photos on here so that people couldn't keep hiding behind alternative IDs. Nobody would behave like this if they were talking face to face. Abuse is unacceptable, whether it comes from fanatical, bunny boiling Steve King worshippers or devious mischief making fake supporters, the nonsense would be drastically reduced if people couldn't hide who they really are.
Well, I’m Gary Hills and have been Skip since the early 1980s and long before Paul Sawyer tried to muscle in on my nickname 🤣🤣🤣. You’ll find me bellowing support from the terracing adjacent to the 18 yard box at whichever end we are attacking.

Trevor Burgess here a fan for 68 years since I was 5 and dad took me to a game.
I lived right by the 480 bus stop a few doors from Brent school and got curious and asked dad where were all the people going getting off the bus on a Saturday.
Joined the forum almost from the start and adopted the name Trevor B obviously as the initials coincided with Tony Burman and I still wear a Darts T shirt to games with the TB initials on from his transport company days.
You can find me in the bar before games sitting with other long serving Darts fans and I meet up with Barry B from my group days and Pete from the Dartford Tech amongst many others.
I don't post too often but I am happy to read the fans comments from the majority and know those to be ignored and it doesn't matter to me whether I can recognise them in person or not.

BrianL here; real name, surname Linford and supporter since Dad took me and my brother on the special train to Bristol City in 1961. I'm to the right behind the goals with a few other oldies.

I seem to have inadvertently started this controversy by making a flippant remark about Noor's return from international duty today, as we missed him. It caused a reaction that shook me, but I realised in hindsight it was a thoughtless and misguided comment, for which I apologised. I am grateful to Rick for amending my post to avoid further dissent.

Perhaps it has done a little good if it means we take care with our comments and remarks about each other's opinions, to which we are all entitled. Let's move on. Up the Darts!

Ozymandias here aka Dave Warner. Supporter in my 54th season, so just a lad. For eight years I reported on matches for the Non League Paper. So I have nothing to hide. Changed once to Joshua York when I received an email direct into my inbox because the guy on the forum couldn't agree with what I said. ( which perturbed my wife)
Was pulled up once last season for making a tongue in cheek remark over a certain players hair style. Anyone would have thought I'd made a terrible remark but no one had read previous posts, they just picked up on mine. You definately have to watch what you post.
I am who I am. A Dartford supporter.

Matt Burgess here aka The 5th Searcher. I’ve been a Darts fan since 18mths old when my dad Trevor B first took me to a game and I’ve been going ever since and I’m 45 now.
Go to almost every home game and try to get to a few away games when possible. I can normally be found in the far end of the bar by the tv with Trevor B, The Duke, Gilsey and some of the other fans and always behind the goal we are attacking during the match.

Dave. I can blame Gary Clark for that, as back in the day, as he added bits to the site, I suddenly found myself officially declared as the Bishop of Tranmere. It stuck, and I am quite proud of it to be honest!!

I am a season ticket holder at both the Darts and Tranmere. Sometimes I get asked who would I support if the two teams ever get to meet, and my answer is always the same - it has to be, and always will be, the Darts!!

The Bishop. Isn't it grand to have a title Duke! :D

My name is Paul Burnett. I felt the need to adopt an anonymous username when joining the forum because I had been led to believe - rightly or wrongly - that there was another DFC supporter with the same name (though not a member of my family as far as I am aware). I'm not sure precisely how long I've been following the Darts, but I was born in 1947 and my Dad started taking me when I was quite small - in the early to mid-1950s? - so I reckon I've been a supporter for at least 67 years. I adopted the forum name Silverado because quite coincidentally I had just a seen a western of that name on TV and by then my hair had long been silver-grey. I attend as many home games as possible and the occasional local away game (eg Welling, Ebbsfleet, Tonbridge, FA Cup and Trophy). I can usually be found in the seating area about 10 yards down from the edge of the penalty area at the Academy end (and I don't change ends at half-time), often accompanied by my learning disabled son Chris, whom many of you may recognise more readily than me.

I travelled on that train to Bristol City as well sitting in the same coach as Johnny Ripley & Lou Cooper and by coincidence I also stand behind the goal just to the right of the goal post and I doubt we will recognise each other but it would be nice to put a face to the name

Say it how I see it and don’t suffer fools easily.

Always tried to support the club financially over the years so, season ticket holder, shareholder and defender of the Black and White.

Always up for a chat.

John Jonty Aldous, right-handed top-order batsman, wicket-keeper & medium fast right arm over the wicket. My first game was back in 73 and I stand to the right, just behind the goal with many others on here, including a certain retired international porn star.
