Welling seriously??

Just hope Dowse got a few aces up his sleeves.
Welling do appear to be throwing some money around (for this level of football) so far this pre-season. Agree with Dowse that we will struggle to compete (financially) with Ebbsfleet, Havant and Dulwich - but I would hope that we can be on a similar footing (if not slightly better) than Welling.
Welling apparently had one of the smallest budgets last season and would have gone down but for the goals of Dipo Akinyemi, a raw but potent striker whose potential finally seemed to be realised under Peter Taylor's tutelage, but he's now gone to Ayr United. They clearly have a bigger budget but their recruitment thus far doesn't suggest they're blowing serious promotion contenders out of the water. Did Dartford really need to keep any of the players who've moved?

Ebbsfleet seem to be a big money club. Havant too, but I'm told they are funded by directors loans which leaves them vulnerable if the wrong person(s) walks away or runs out of money. Dulwich rely on massive match day revenue and were completely shafted by the behind closed doors season, which left a previously debt free club with a large five figure debt that has probably now been cleared. Three years ago Dulwich were debt free with "top 6 budget". That budget was cut by 40% to "a bit above average for the division" according to the club chairman. I would expect Dulwich to have a larger budget this time but they are not desperate to be promoted before the ground is redeveloped, and that has been delayed by protesters forcing a judicial review.

Again, I ask why do we hear about these player movements in the press and not through our own internal channels!?

Call me impatient (I am!), and I have already paid for a season ticket for next season, but what incentive is there for us fans to buy a season ticket with so very little business with players. We’ve signed a squad of eight so far, with more outgoing than those staying, and no new players. What the hell is going on!?

Very disconcerting imo.

Just read the gaffers interview with Kent Online. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what Saturday brings (fingers crossed!)

If i recall Dowse has stated he had a couple of players who were on holiday but gave their word they were signing when back and also had a couple from Woking. Not sure if they're the same two players but Dowse was hopeful of some signing Saturday so we may find out then.

Also quite a few players from higher divisions are still contracted until 30th June so if we are lucky enough to attract a few of those they obviously can't say anything until after then.

Add to that Dowse said he may have to be patient and wait as players on pre season trials at higher/other clubs are released so this could be a few weeks more.

Agree all this waiting is very frustrating but really looking forward to seeing what new players he brings in.

Early July is going to be busy! A bit of patience needed, intriguing stuff, no one is rumoured to be signing, no pressure Dowse!

I said similar when the club launched its new look website (which was much needed as the old one was horrible to navigate and looked really shoddy).

But even with a new look website (and social media channels) these are only good to a point and require regular new information / content put on them to make them a must-visit for fans. As it stands they are pointless. A prime example is the pages dedicated to the current playing squad and the stats. Neither get updated on a regular basis as players come and go nor are the stats up-to-date. And that's not even getting to the real issue of news stories about player arrivals and departures / loans in and out being published by the club first.

I wouldn't worry about Dulwich as I'm convinced they have no intention of ever getting promoted. To do so would completely destroy their business model which relies hugely on sandal wearing hipsters who attend only to socialise whilst drinking real ale and consuming wagyu steak burgers served in artisan bread rolls. The vast majority of the massive crowds they achieve appear to have only a passing interest in the football and I doubt if 75% of them even know what division the club is in now. If they were to ever get promoted then they would no longer be able to sell alcohol on the terraces and their entire enterprise would be wiped out overnight. I'm not knocking their setup or their incredibly high attendances, merely pointing out that for the majority of attendees it has very little to do with football and is more akin to being a venue for a pleasant afternoon out with some chums rather than a competitive football club. Eighth place would be ideal for them.

Definitely not! Need somewhere to see this information! :D

The club should probably contact you and ask to use your data!

The trouble with including 6th and 7th placed teams in the play-offs is that you can't really plan to finish no higher than 8th. Dulwich were still occupying 7th place during April. What if they'd "accidentally" stayed there for a few more weeks, then knocked the 4th placed team out of the play-offs like Chippenham did?

Yes, I have to agree..
Wilksy is an excellent keeper and I for one am more than pleased that he will be back between the sticks for us again for the coming season.

Brilliant re - signing, personally thought he would have been signed at by a Football league club, he was exceptional for us last season, for me he and Noor were our stand out players.

Really pleased about this one !
