The U18s always knew that the new season would be a challenge. After they lifted the U16s championship title last season, the 2024-25 season
was going to be a whole new experience.
Playing up against a lot of teams with 17-year-olds, (who are in their 2nd year of U18s), the Darts', Managed by Chris Hovell and Bruce Bennett, have had a mixed season so far, but full credit to the management and the players, who have kept the DFC U18s flag flying. They are through to the Tina Marshall Trophy semi-finals ((Kent Girls & Ladies League competition). So watch this space!
George Kingdon has brought on his U15s from last season and maturing into the U16s squad for this season have been doing really well and hold second position with 4 wins out of 5. Add to that their cup successes (won 6 out of 6 matches so far) and things are looking very rosy for this team.
U13s' manager, Danny Groves assisted by Lewis Whitcombe have had a good start to the season, and especially so with the introduction to the JPL Warriors U13s league competition. These matches are played on Saturday with the Kent & Girls League matches played on the traditional Sunday.
The Warriors' U13s team are currently second having won 6 of their opening 8 matches.
The Kent Girls & Ladies' League team are also doing very well, having won 4 of the opening 6 matches.
So the Pre-Academy/Grassroots Girls are looking to build on their previous season's successes and we will be keeping a keen eye on their progress. Especially so, as the Women's game is getting bigger, better and stronger year on year.
