Re: Player news
Baris gave a 100 pct always. Very young and athletic. I feel with the right coaching could have turned out very good. Seems a strange decision with the likes of Wall, Charlie and Block (if hes still here ?) sitting around doing very little
Re: Player news
It’s been a calender year (well 50 x weeks) of strange decisions though Butch!! x

Block is a very good player but you can count his matches on one hand.

Re: Player news
I am disappointed that Baris has been dumped. He is a good player and played ok despite being out of position in every game except the first of the season. I am not surprised though I think Dowse has gone mad and turned the whole club on its head

Re: Player news
I think I said that tongue in cheek, so as to make a point when it didn’t happen. Although I do now know a bit more about why Barzey left.
Nevertheless, Dowse's decisions do baffle me and his recruitment has been woeful in my opinion. It's the same revolving door policy that Steve King got slammed for, only with significantly less talented players. It's Christmas and we're still nowhere near having a settled squad, good enough even to START the season. As it is, we're not building anything, just stuffing loanees into the gaping holes and hoping we'll stumble onto a winning formula. It's not working.

Re: Player news
IMO the Baris decision just doesn't add up?
We've had 26 1st team fixtures this season of which Baris has started 20 and made 4 sub appearances making him the 4th most used player in the squad.
And now he's gone by "Mutual Consent" ????
WTF is going on.

Re: Player news
The fact there are fans from countless clubs, including those at a higher level, asking for Baris' signature says it all. How this has been allowed to happen is beyond me
If it's the players decision, where he has had an approach from another club and wants to move on then why isn't he contracted where we will receive a fee?
If it's the management decision, I really don't understand it at all.
What is clear is the mismanagement of Baris has caused this. When he does play, he's out of his preferred CB position to accommodate for other players, who haven't shown the top quality we have been used to in that area. Even when he has played at Full Back, he's been better than what we have at the club. Yet most of the time we are used to seeing him on the bench which is a waste of a player of his quality.
That's 2 players gone, and although Brandon is now only on loan it's clear he's not in the first team plan going forward. What's happened to Manor? He's going to be the next one to go because he's not getting the play time yet when he has played he's looked good at what he's been asked to do.
Numerous players are at the club on contract who are contributing absolutely nothing, we all know who they are yet we are getting rid of players with genuine quality.
Something has to change

Re: Player news
Nothing adds up anymore PL, but don't worry, we have this new central midfielder coming in and Blocky is almost fit again.
Re: Player news
So who eats the mince pies I leave out then?
Re: Player news
Looks like Baris has joined LeDovre.
Re: Player news
If we needed any further prof of Dowse losing the lot the Altintop will be [ almost ] not the last player to have had enough o f Dowse [ unless your injured / cant play very week and on £400+ ] bet they stay !!!
Altintop played 1 early game at centre back and was binned , a player that got into the NSL Team of the Season last year !!!
Good Luck Baris , hope you have a great season !!!!!!!

Can't be bothered to get a new topic going. I hope everyone has a great Christmas and I'll see you next year at some point.

Re: Player news
For anyone thinking of creating a new topic, be aware any opinions or points of view out of line with those within the inner sanctum will be shunted off to the 'Any other discussions' thread'. Despite the subject matter being concerned with first team affairs.
It won't be deleted completely as that would be seen as a ban on freedom of speech. Better just to keep certain things out of sight and under the radar.
A post doesn't have to be abusive or contain foul language to be censored. Sometimes emotions can run high, particularly after a game when the effect of drowning one's sorrows kicks in. But I don't ever recall anyone getting particularly nasty. Opposite points view occasionally become heated yes, but isn't that what used to make this one of the best football forums for passionate debate?
I'm afraid this platform is now in danger of becoming woke.
If that happens things will go the same way as the match day attendances. Woke does not tolerate opinions. Because woke is always right. Woke is the enemy of football. Football is about passion. Woke is just stop everything. It makes bromide look like viagra.
Attendances are falling and as with Tonbridge there is not one single post about tomorrow's game on the St. Albans thread.
The communication from the club is worse than ever and subsequently people are asking themselves why they should bother.
The fans are becoming disengaged from the club.
And for those with season tickets who aren't bothering to attend games, if that doesn't ring alarms bells then what will?
The club is at an impasse.

Re: Player news
Ajaxman.
Rick has absolutely nothing to do with the club and runs this forum 100% completely independently all in his own time and FOC.
I think you owe him an apology.
Rick,
Please keep up the good work it's really appreciated.

Re: Player news
I totally disagree with your comments on the way Rick is running this totally independent forum. In my opinion, forum censorship has been very limited and is fully warranted. Long may it continue, thanks Rick.Ajaxman DFC wrote: ↑Fri Dec 22, 2023 11:51 am For anyone thinking of creating a new topic, be aware any opinions or points of view out of line with those within the inner sanctum will be shunted off to the 'Any other discussions' thread'. The reason former regular posters (like me) post so infrequently these days has absolutely nothing to do with the way the forum is being run, but more with generally feeling very distanced from the club with way this are going on the field.
I've never felt so disenchanted with club as l do now and l really can't see things improving with the current structure. Dowse's approach, recruitment and style of play has been utterly woeful and this why l have lost interest in DFC ... absolutely nothing to do with Rick's management of the forum!
