With Wall signing on again I think Dowse is really looking to get some physical presence in the team which we will definitely need. I think we may not get bullied this year. If only Wall can stay fit (a big if I know) we know what he is capable of.

Rooney’s a leader though! The 5th Searcher wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2023 6:17 pm A little surprised with this one, I thought Alex may have been released. Hopefully he can stay fit this season and may possibly work well with Harvey.
I guess with Alex, Harvey & Lewis as our strikers things may not be looking quite so good for Charlie. I really hope I’m wrong as Sheringham would’ve been a quality player to keep & is the one player that talks to & encourages the younger players but will also give a bollocking when needed.
He’s the one Dowse said opens his mouth and has a lot to say in the dressing room which is what Dowse wanted.

when rooney signed for the have nots two years ago
Re: Player news
Pre-season shenanigans seem to be going quite well. Personally I'm not disappointed that Samir has departed I found him quite frustrating. Yes, he's undoubtedly one of the most naturally gifted players in the division, but I often felt he played like he was making a self promotional video rather than playing for the team. When you then factor in how much time he was injured and that even when he DOES play he invariably runs out of gas after 45 mins then I don't think we'll miss him that much. Don't get me wrong, there are flashes of brilliance and it would be just our luck if he did sonething amazing against us next season, but in my opinion he's a luxury item that delivers sporadically and overall I don't think he contributes anywhere close to what you would think he's capable of. As for comparisons with Elliot Bradbrooke, words fail me.

Liking the look of our front line. Hopefully we sign a couple of wingers who can put in a decent cross

Big fan of Luke so am happy he is staying. Hopefully he can stay fit and avoid injury as when he played last season we looked like a different team.
Re: Player news
Happy to see Tom Wray get a contract after his loan at Heybridge Swifts, I guess he’ll be our second choice with experience in cup competitions.
Buzzing that Luke Allen is staying. If he can stay fit, his energy and talent is just what this team needs.
I like the way Dowse is building this team so far. Whilst there are no big names and flair players it’s full of determination and hard workers who give their all which is what we were missing when things weren’t going great. Onto more signings…

So, by my reckoning, we’re still waiting to hear news of:
Bonner
Dudzinski
Meade
Coulson
Fonkeu
Sheringham

I could be wrong but I thought I’d heard that Dudzinski was already on a contract. I thought he had been put on an 18mth contract when he joined us last season.
