Re: FA Cup 3rd qualifying round
Pretty certain I went there for a 4th qualifying round FA Cup tie back in the eighties. A few wannabee hard boys and an extremely painful 2-1 defeat when we were favourites to go through as I recall. So a chance to extract a dort of delayed reaction revenge, but also a tough ground to visit. Not th...

Re: FA Cup 2nd qualifying round - Dartford v Leatherhead Sat 14 Sep 2024
I can remember way back, possibly in the late '70's, when we played at Leatherhead in the FA Trophy (or maybe FA Cup). The whole South East was frozen solid and a 'helpful' volunteer at Leatherhead told those of us phoning the ground for info as to whether the game was on or not that it wasn't wort...

Re: FA Cup 1st qualifying round - Dartford v Marlow Sat 31 Aug 2024
It's the FA Cup BB, I don't recall EVER having reduced prices for an FA Cup game even if it was against lower ranked opposition, which Marlow are not. They are at the same level in the pyramid as we are, albeit they've had a poor start and we've done really well. We all have great expectations and ...

Re: Dartford Players of The Past
That's true jonty. Glen was good at the back for us also apart from the handball incident at Bishop Stortford, which I don't think I'll ever forget. Good player good manager. RIP. Glen. I remember when Graham Carr signed Coups from Maidstone he was a centre forward but recall he was converted to ce...

Re: Carshalton Athletic v Dartford Sat 24 Aug 2024
I remember going there and seeing Cody McDonald score twice as we win 2-0 Struggling to recall that one. Remember Jamie Coyle heading one in from a corner when we trounced them 4-0 there. Was a nice set-up IIRC I remember the 4-0 mainly because Jamie Day was sublime. Would loved to have seen him in...

Re: Dartford Players of The Past
Dartford great, Lee Noble, has signed for Brentwood Town, the club where TB signed him. Nobes subsequently spent 12 successful years with the Darts before returning north of the river.

Re: Dartford Players of The Past
Not a good day out for Micky Shinn either. His newly promoted Newmarket Town side were soundly beaten 6-1 by Felixstowe & Walton United in the Isthmian North. He’s put on a few pounds since his playing days, too.

Re: Isthmian Premier League News
Apart from Bank Holidays, just two midweek evening fixtures???? League Cup I guess. We play less league games in the Isthmian League, 42 instead of the 46 in the NLS. The Isthmian does run a League Cup though so a chance to top up the four fewer league fixtures. Entry is voluntary due to the potent...

Re: Caterham Seven Car
Caterham is mass production compared with Morgan. Their cars are somewhat cheaper, but are great fun to drive. They take a lot of punishment on the race track. Not to be recommended for a journey of more than one hour as they are not renown for their comfort. That covers journeys to most of our opp...

London City Lionesses
I see London City Lionesses are relocating to Bromley FC this season. Not sure what impact this will have on club finances. I seem to recall them losing a big match here against Arsenal women due to the weather which may have helped make their decision. Wonder if the club is looking to replace them ...

Re: Player news
I'm worried that it is deafening silence on signing players. Down this way Weston have already made 2 big signings - Like Coulson and Ollie Chamberlain from Taunton. Added to that or website is still plastered with Vanerama advertising - has everyone gone in holiday? The website still thinks the FA...

Re: News from around the National League South
Didn’t we pretty much swap places with them when relegated from National about 10 years ago? Since then, Bromley has built solid foundations first establishing itself as a competitive team in that league and then developing the ground. Over the last half dozen seasons it’s had FA Trophy success and ...

Re: Isthmian Premier League News
Burnsie was a genuinely decent fella and a great bloke to have in your team [ he wouldnt have put up with last seasons slackers ] , he really was a defender/midfielder but did have that one crazy season as a striker when I think he got 20 goals but next season couldnt hit a barn door except for a c...
